My new to me 19.5ft 1992 Century Mustang II has a 4.3L mercruiser 2barrel in it. The boat runs great and seems to have good performance, a little slow on top maybe but with a 17P aluminum 3blade prop and a hydrofoil likely slowing it down a little 39mph seems kind of reasonable to me.
It was rebuilt in 2007 and I have some parts listed on the receipt from the rebuild, lists "Flat top pistons for higher compression. Moly Rings. Roller Rockers." and some other items I do not recall, partiularly work to the exhaust manifolds, but no cam specs or anything or an actual compression ratio.
1) It has a 1.84:1 drive ratio, does that imply it was a 155hp model that year?
2) What are the differences between the 1992 155hp and 175hp motors?
3) The guy I bought the boat from bought it in 2009 and said he was told it was a 175hp 4.3L. Would this be achievable with the same cam and carburetion as the 155 hp motor?
