Oh my!!!! About a third of the way in where the car flips ... and 2/3rd of the way in where the car catches fire, right before the 2 fire trucks colide, and then the motorcycles getting hit ... especially the one where the guy flies up in the air and lands on the car ... glad we saw him move in the end ... some of those crashes are down right horrific and as a volunteer emergency responder, have seen the results of many ... PAY ATTENTION AT INTERSECTIONS!

I don't think so!!!!!;)

Been in too many of them and know how easily it can happen with some of the guys behind the wheel, they forget we are asking permission for the right of way instead of assuming we have it!!!!!

I think the red light cameras are awesome. Even if it's a way for my city to make more cash in addition to making an intersection safer, I support it. If you don't run red lights, you have nothing to worry about. It's the people that don't drive safely or think it's ok to break traffic laws as long as no there's no cop watching you that are getting upset.

I've heard people say that there are more rear-end collisions than before, which is probably true...I'd rather be rear-ended than t-boned by a car going through a light and hitting the side of my vehicle and causing great injury.

Been there, JM. I don't understand your point. I have been rear ended at traffic lights twice when I stopped and the jerk behind me didn't. The guy on the bike had no choice. It was the jerk behind him that was inattentive.

I also missed by inches being T-boned by a fire truck that was runnning a red light .

Maybe "funny" has different definitions to different people.

If you have never been in a serious accident then you probably have a different set of priorities when driving than I do (like thinking that accidents are funny). I drive exactly 35 mph (the posted speed limit) down the main street between my street and the expressway, most people do 50 mph. This started right after I hit that deer. One day a few months back a deer came flying out across a yard towards the road, I was able to slam on the brakes and avoid a collision. The jerk that was tailgating me because I wasn't driving 50 mph kept a much more respectable distance from me for the remainder of that stretch of road. I think he came closer to rear ending me than I came to that dear.

It's like when I was a paramedic and you would have multiple units responding to an incident.

Lot's of scary accidents in that video.

Man some of those were nasty. People need to slow down and pay attention.
I don't think any of those red light runners intentionally ran the light and obviously the cameras didn't prevent any accidents. Red light cameras are to there to try and nail somebody for trying to make a late yellow light or very early red which really don't prevent any accidents.
We have a few red light cameras in my town mostly located at intersections near shopping centers. There are a couple intersections that get clogged with rush hour traffic that don't have them and there is always 2-3 cars blowing the red. I assume the city doesn't install them there because there would be even more gridlock.

Wait, my red light/speeding cam gets axed, even though it was courteous and following the rules, yet this one is left alone. Interesting...

Not so, skargo. It was too political and an even dozen bad posts had to be deleted.

This one is getting political, too.

"obviously the cameras didn't prevent any accidents." That makes no sense at all, whoopbass. The accidents shown were obviously not prevented." How does that translate to no accidents were prevented??

Yes, the cameras are there to catch lawbreakers who are endangering the public with unsafe and illegal driving. Getting busted a few times might influence them to change their driving habits. That would probably save a life or two. I really think that is a good idea.

If the "cameras are there to catch lawbreakers who are endangering the public with unsafe and illegal driving", how come they are talking about taking them out in Los Angeles because they are costing the city too money to run them? If they are truly there to solely save lives then it would be a done deal to keep them at a cost.

people in america need to learn to drive. ive been racing things all my life...in driving school they say there is no such thing as offensive defensive drivers. i think anyone who has raced anything is a better driver they are more alert and pay attention to the road. im always scanning the road infront of me and the oncoming lane, checking my rear view and off to the sides of my car. ive probably avoided 20 accidents that way im only 24. people especially need to pay attention to motorcycles, i would flipped out on that chick that rear ended that bike.

gotta give the guy credit though. i give him a 10 for sticking the landing, and another 10 for getting it all on camera

JB, I don't understand what your asking.
My comment was directed more at the title of this thread. Red light cameras are suppose to deter running a red light but he posts a 6 1/2 minute video of cars running red lights and crashing into other cars.

True, red light cameras will make someone pause and think before trying to make a late yellow no matter if there is a camera installed or not and that may prevent accidents but they also cause accidents and cause congestion.

By the way this is getting political.........lol

WHY? He wasn't hurt and she ran as fast as she could to him apoligizing. Obviously it was a total accident. What more could be done?

Re: Speed, redlight cameras..... are a good thing..

I think Rellik was just reacting, I don't really think he would have freaked out, I have a racing background as well and I have been rear ended similar to the video totaling my sport bike as well albeit I didn't stick the landing! First thing that goes through your mind is what did just happen hows the bike what did just happen hows the bike what did I do wrong am I ok? etc etc your mind is racing and it takes time to calm down and get things back in order, you can see it in the video, he looks at the ground sets his hands on his knees, looks at the bike back to the knees and then walks over to the sidewalk, very common reaction to nearly getting killed, the fact that the woman comes over to him quickly probably hasn't made it past the guys ears since his brain is in overdrive still. I bet he ultimately told the lady he was fine and gave her a hug(bet me he did) but it was probably after he came down so to speak.

I also agree that those that have participated in organized racing have a huge advantage in driving everyday especially on sport bikes, you just know someday its going to be your turn and your brain is constantly evaluating threats, so when you move into a car your brain doesn't change the way it operates even though you are now much safer in a car, also I have that seat of the pants factor that comes to light when the rear end loses grip on snow and ice, most of the time the passengers in the car never notice the rear lose grip but I know it I felt it and never got off the gas to counter it just a small correction unnoticeable to the rest of the car.

Re: Speed, redlight cameras..... are a good thing..

I've gotten 3 tickets in the mail from red light cameras. I contested them and all 3 were dismissed. I hadn't run the lights, but as I went through the intersection, the sensors were picking up my trailer as another vehicle. I'm a catious driver with no other tickets/accidents in 21 years and over 1 million miles.

Since I've been adversly affected by them, I've done some research. Come to find out, a lot of these camera's are installed by a company that gets a large percentage of the proceeds and the county or town gets the rest. There has been some unpublished studies done that indicate they may possibly be shortening the yellow light times, in an attempt to create more revenue. IMO, yellow light times should be standardized.

In the Los Angeles report I posted before, nearly 2/3rds of the tickets were people just doing right turns on red lights which is of course totally legal.

I hate the cameras and its not because I want to get away with running red lights or speeding.
