I was changing the fluid in the stator on my 97 175 SportJet and there was some water in the fluid. Upon closer inspection I noticed there was a small tear in the seal that goes around the shaft. My question: Can you buy just the rear seal, and if so how do you change it? I looked and looked but cant figure out how to do it.<br />Thanks!

You can find just about every part and a manual for your boat at www.stemtostern.com. Their website shows exploded views of all the mercury sportjet drives. Good luck.

I can't seem to get the link to work, but I've seen the 'fiche on the computer, and cant see how the seal comes out there either!

OK! Thanks for the help. New Question: When I took the fill/vent screw out to drain the stator, there was ALOT of pressure behind it. (Got a blue oil shower!) My question is why? I filled it myself and there was no pressure, why/how does the presssure build in there? I will place this question on the board as well, all help is appreciated!
