Spyware??

My home computer says its infected and i need spyware,something called pest..... keeps poping up and wanting me to buy it,so whats a good free spyware?or should i leave it alone?

Spybot Search & Destroy, Adaware by Lavasoft. Both free, just Google them.

download, install, update and use both of them! In addition to that get firefox and stop useing IE!

Microsoft Internet Explorer is IE. Now that you know what it is, stop using it! d Opera or Firefox browsers are better bets (lets not start a cat fight over which browser is better!)

You're looking for software to remove spyware, you already have spyware on your system. The suggested programs are good one for sure and free to boot. More serious threats can be cleaned online at websites like Trend Micro's Housecall

I have the verizon broadband internet service, with the service you get the free anti virus and spyware from mcfee....the anti virus worked good but the spyware didnt.So i upgraded to one of there other security programs for an exrea $5 a month for two computers. I have yet to have something get by it.

My personal favorite is Pest Patrol. It's 30 bucks, and 20.00 a year, but it catches everything. Not only that but it gets rid of spyware on the fly while I'm surfing. So I never have to do a traditional scan. You should see the log of stuff it catches. Spybot and Adaware are both great free programs, but I notice that Adaware does catch more.

The wife says we have spyware??so when she gets home from work she's going to figure it out,she's more puter friendly than i am.but these pop ups ever few seconds are driving me nuts.
it says your computer is infected!
windows have ..........a spyware infection
it is recomended use special antispyware tools
to pervent data loss.windows will download and install
the most upto date anti spyware for you.

Those pop ups you see are ads. My guess is if you go to that same website over and over the ads will continue to pop up, but if you go elseware, say here, then they wont.

No its at the right bottom of the screen they do it here and everwere.

In addition, if you get Firefox instead of Internet Explorer, your pop up ads will go away too.

I think we posted at the same time,i dont have the regular pop ups,its like a little bubble coming out of an red x at the bottom of the screen.

On the top of the browser there is a white block where you type in an internet address. Usually there is a "go" button next to it. If you copy the entire last link I posted and paste it into that block and hit go, it will take you to a sight where some guy has a problem similar to yours. d

Holy carps,thats what its a doing i saved that on favorites for the wife to see and fix ,i thinks better if i leave this up to her.Drrockter thank you for everthing i just dont have the patience with these things to tackle all thatd
