Re: Spyware??

"it says your computer is infected!
windows have ..........a spyware infection
it is recomended use special antispyware tools
to pervent data loss.windows will download and install
the most upto date anti spyware for you."

Don't download it!!! My dad responded to a similar message and was infected with the SpySherrif progam. It hijacks your PC, slows it down with clandestine activity and almost makes it unusable. It is almost impossible to remove because it is hidden deep inside windows and keeps re-installing itself. I finally had to format his PC and rebuild it. You can use this tool:

http://www.spychecker.com/program/hijackthis.html

to see if you are infected. It lists all the programs running and gives you a definition of whether it is a bad thing. Doesn't remove the problem, just identifies it. I find Microsofts Antispyware tool to be very effective.

Good luck.

Microsoft Internet Explorer is IE. Now that you know what it is, stop using it! d:) Opera or Firefox browsers are better bets (lets not start a cat fight over which browser is better!)

There is nothing "better" about those browsers. They are simply different interfaces that some people prefer. Just like Ford vs Chevy - they both make wonderful trucks, but for some reason many people love one and bash the other. Ford isn't better than Chevy, and Chevy isn't any better than Ford. I use IE for many hours every day, and have for at least a decade. I've NEVER had a virus and the few times I've had spyware it wasn't from IE. All browsers have their flaws, including Firefox. I don't like firefox at all, in fact, I hate it, but it works well for others and you don't see me bashing it.

In addition, if you get Firefox instead of Internet Explorer, your pop up ads will go away too.
Internet Explorer has a built in popup blocker just like everything else.

Re: Spyware??

Yes, but most security attacks are directed at IE, because it is the most popular browser. That will change as Firefox begins to get more and more popular. Firefox does load the pages faster than IE on my mom's dial up machine. From a developers standpoint IE is better, because the other browsers have special formatting tools that make programming more time consuming.

Google Spybot and download the free version. Run it, find the junk, delete it and it will be gone. Pops up again, keep running Spybot until its all gone.Had the same **** on a used Laptop I got for a song because I know how to get rid of it, and they didn't. Mine was a Constant REGISTRY CORRUPTED. Just a uselss little peice of crap to get you to buy software to get rid of it., but there is really no it there

Re: Spyware??

I assigned a drive letter to my internet connection. Then told Spybot to go clean it. Been running for weeks. I figure the internet should be cleaned up any day now....
