Re: St. Augustine in May/June?!?

57 days and counting

...I swear the calendar is slowing down....

Breathe Fireman... Breeeaaathe. In, slowly through your nose... Now out, slowly and relaxed, through your mouth. Don't push it out, just let it go.

Feel better now?

It's killin' me, too; but isn't it awesome???

Anticipation is good...sometimes. I should have started this thread in Mid-May. Is it awesome? It will be awesome the morning of the 16th when I break the docklines loose and start heading North.

Here's another thought: We'll spend the night in Jax on the 16th and finish Jax to St. Augustine the morning of the 17th. Why don't you put your boat in the water somewhere in Jax the morning of the 17th and head to Old Town along side? Or...we'll tie you up as a tender and make the ride with us...

Just a thought.

How many miles down the ICW is it from Jax to Old town? Is there a boat ramp safe enough to leave my unattended truck and trailer in Jax? How long does it take you to get from Jax to Old Town in your boat, and at what speeds? Just looking for estimates. My wife is google earthing right now. This sounds fantastic to me. My wife is not so sure. She's not against it, either.

Don't be nervous, nlain. June is right between May and July on any calendar you look at, just like it's always been.:p

We wouldn't think of changing that just to mess with you.;)

Feel better now?:D

Approx 30 from the inlet.

Is there a boat ramp safe enough to leave my unattended truck and trailer in Jax?

Not real sure. I'm not that familiar with Jax. There is a thread on here that deals specifically with that issue. (here's the hint...it's this one. Go check post #28 :) )

How long does it take you to get from Jax to Old Town in your boat, and at what speeds? Just looking for estimates.

Average around 8-10 MPH unless I get bored, then I kick it up a bit. It's no speed demon, especially at burning 32 GPH!

This sounds fantastic to me.

I'm pretty sure nothing good can come of it. Your wife might want to call ahead now and get on the liver transplant waiting list...

I think you would enjoy the ride, veritas honus. If you decide to do this and the only thing holding you up is the safety of your truck.....we can pick it up for you and have it at the marina.

That is some very nicely detailed question answering, Fireman.:)

Aprox. 30 miles sounds like a happy distance to me.

How 'bout a little more of a hint:rolleyes:... Beach Blvd ramp sounds good... So does a 3-4hr boat ride to Old Town:)

I think you may be starting to scare my wife.

Is it june yet... Please?

Re: St. Augustine in May/June?!?

VH...no pressure at all. If you want to join us for a 'get aquainted' cruise, then you're more than welcome to follow or ride along. If you would rather stick to your own agenda, I understand that as well. Your wife has no need to worry...yet, that is....

The ride from Jax to Old Town is nice and peaceful, but the one from St. Augustine to DB is even better. If you've never had a 30+ ride in the boat, it's a must do. We do two 250+ mile trips every year. Heck, it's only gas and it's pretty cheap anyway...

Take it as it comes, veritas honus. I'll do whatever it takes for all to enjoy themselves, as I'm sure you will do the same. I hope other can make it there too! If not, we will have fun anyway.

With my 2-3, your 2 at least, and VH's 2-3, there should be at least enough for a good time. Throw in nlain and NSBCraig (hoping they can make it) and a few of my friends driving up as well and it should be a nice day.

The Admiral and I will be there, may not bring the boat, but I have all intentions of being there.

Since we are getting close, I'm going to reserve a room this week. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Make it close to the marina. Within staggerin....er....walking distance. Like I mentioned before, if you need it, someplace on the boat will available for you two. May not be comfortable, but it will be there.

Thanks for the invite, Fireman. We booked a room at Bayfront Motel overlooking the marina for a couple of days. I'm up before daylight and my lady around 10AM. I think a room would be better for all involved.

This worked out good, a friends family is coming down to visit the island for a week and they can stay at our place while were not there. I'm not worried about security here, but it will give them some privacy. I suppose we will stay away for a week or so. Dang, I like being around boats and the water everyday, but I think a vacation in the mountains of WV may be in the plans...........after I recover from the roundup.

I may have to follow veritas honus to GA!

Don't get your hopes up, Fireman. I'm happy to make it thru a normal workday or playday. I used to spend 6 days a week at the gym, but after going thru some tough times, I'll stick with riding my bike. Nowdays it takes me a couple of hours just to get going.
