Re: Starcraft-Can this be restored?

Took another close look at the boat and a casting deck could probably be installed with no hardware at all. If you see the lip that the drivers seat sits on. Cut a cardboard pattern to fit the bow the size of the deck. I would come back far enough to leave leg room to drive. The bench seat looks to be 3/4" so I would use 3/4" plywood. If you then remove that bench seat you can just slide the casting deck in up to the bow. I would the cut that console in 1/2 to allow access to the deck. Just build a small console and attach to the deck. The deck and the driver seats should be more than enough to prevent flexing.

I was hoping he could do that as well, but it looks like that lip really starts to slant upward in this pic, which would make the deck sit sloped.

Looks like a worthwhile effort. When you finish you will have plenty of anchor to hold it in a raging storm too. :D

Hey I'm not too far away from. You should just let me come and haul that piece of junk out of your yard. Be doing you a favor. :D

I just bought a magazine ad from 1959 publicizing the "First Lapstrake Aluminum Boat" made by Starcraft. Yours does not show that design trait. That may make it pre 1959. I will post a pic of the ad after I get it.
