I think I beat the fever today. I went to a boat place (Eriksen's Marine in Ferrisburgh, VT) with 3 starcraft projects available for sale. One aluminum cuddy with no outboard but obviously "re-designed" by a former owner...... an interesting fiberglass Starfire with a sliding roof and a mercruiser 188 which was not too bad but rough..... ;)

and the roughest of the crowd but the cheapest $600 (I bet could be had for less) was a complete Holiday with a mercruiser 120 io. It sadly appeared to have lived it's life in the sun and weather. Interior was shot but there was evidence that it belonged to a fisherman. Rod holders on the dog house and holes where the downrigger's once were mounted.......

I felt bad for these boats (kind of like visiting an orphanage) but I was strong and walked away. I remembered the Jupiter in my yard and my 12 foot semi V that were already mine.

I inquired about orphaned outboards and this guy had a few that were in need of rebuild with "unknown" or forgotten problems.

Re: Starcraft Fever

How dare you leave that poor Holiday sitting there ! You know what she can be and you know what it takes, never mind that ...what it takes.....

Do her justice you march right back there and make them a offer they can't refuse. :p

Re: Starcraft Fever

It was the only 18 ft Aluminum there. It was sad toi see the interior in such condition. Trust me I was tempted. The 120 (aka 151 cu in) is a great engine.

Don't kid yourself...... I have my eyes open for a few things.

Re: Starcraft Fever

I'm going to start looking for a SuperSport next year hopefully if I can get spousal permission. I'd love to find a 18' with a little bit deeper V. No more closed bows for me. I'm also not into I/O's.

Quote "Well..... as I mentioned last night..... I might be looking at a holiday this week Mentioned it to the wife and she said sure fill the whole yard with boats!!! Mind you .... we have 2 acres Dang I love that woman Very tolerant of my antics."

So thats how it works more land more boats.

Well I got 65 acres and how do I explain this to the wife ?

How many per acre are we allowed ?

I can feel the stimulus plan working now :D

Re: Starcraft Fever

HELP HELP

I found yet another startcraft 16' Supersport for sale and it's a real real basket case. The console frames are there but no windshields, the treeing is missing...... all the wood is rotted and I see potential.

I have a 15' and this is a foot longer and about 10" wider....not to mention the open bow. $250 on a trailer w/o power. This has much higher sides too as compared to my 15'r.

Now what do I do?? It will required just a bit more work than the 15' boat but basically the same stuff.

Now I am real confused...... buy this and sell the other???? That boat is worth more as scrap right now with the aluminum prices.

I'd wait it out for one that was at least structurally complete. They aren't exactly rare.

Did you hear a little voice in your head saying "Daddy, please don't leave me in this horrible place....please take me home!" :D

Re: Starcraft Fever

Funny thing..... there was another 15' brand X aluminum hull right along side that someone has extended the depth of the bow and the sahpe of the boat with aluminum. An interesting creation I must say.

I am going to take a second look and hopefully get some pictures..... oh man I am a sucker for starcrafts and my wife is a sucker for puppies!
