I think I beat the fever today. I went to a boat place (Eriksen's Marine in Ferrisburgh, VT) with 3 starcraft projects available for sale. One aluminum cuddy with no outboard but obviously "re-designed" by a former owner...... an interesting fiberglass Starfire with a sliding roof and a mercruiser 188 which was not too bad but rough.....
and the roughest of the crowd but the cheapest $600 (I bet could be had for less) was a complete Holiday with a mercruiser 120 io. It sadly appeared to have lived it's life in the sun and weather. Interior was shot but there was evidence that it belonged to a fisherman. Rod holders on the dog house and holes where the downrigger's once were mounted.......
I felt bad for these boats (kind of like visiting an orphanage) but I was strong and walked away. I remembered the Jupiter in my yard and my 12 foot semi V that were already mine.
I inquired about orphaned outboards and this guy had a few that were in need of rebuild with "unknown" or forgotten problems.
