Starcraft identification help

I saved a boat from the local scrap metal crusher. I think it is a Starcraft Falcon but it has no ID plate/sticker nor any registration numbers. I have already started resto on the trailer and will start on the boat probably in the next few days. Can anyone identify this hull for me? I have searched thru the forums and the 2 things i cant find are:

1. On the bow of the boat the plate over the spot where the hill comes together on top has a plate with a slotted handle I am guessing is for securing the boat while docked. All the pics i see in the Starcraft brochures have a smooth plate with no handle.
2. On the stern where the transom ajoins the sides of the hull all the pics i see show this to be a 45 degree incline down to the level that the motor mounts. My hull has curved down slopes, not straight down inclines.

This may not be a Starcraft but I rally think it is. I got this lady and my friend saved a Starcraft Jupiter. I bought this boat by the pound, Yes, by the pound, $1 per pound for the price of scrap aluminum. So, i got her for $180.

Any help is very much appreciated.

Regards,
Steve

Welcome aboard River Rat. Hard to say from one oic. Do you have any more? The stern doesn't look Starcrafty but hard to say.

Re: Starcraft identification help

I do and i will add them tomorrow. Im not for sure its a Starcraft but I'm leaning more on the not side.

The hull is aluminum and in pretty good shape. The transom is completely rotted so i'll be replacing that once i figure out how to get at it.

Thanks for the help and I'll post some more pics.

Re: Starcraft identification help

Well, here are some more pics. Sorry it took a few days. I did get the trailer sanded, prepped and primed. I still cant put a finger on what brand boat this is.

Anyway, I'm thinking about a burgundy-ish over white paint scheme unless i can figure out the maker of the boat and resto to their colors. I just don't know enough about boat builders for that time but I am researching a LOT to find out what company produced her.

Also I'm leaning towards calling her "Lucky Lady" as i did save her from the crusher at the local Can Man aluminum recycler.

Regards,
Steve

p.s. - is it better to link my pics or use the direct html code? i want to keep a week to week resto thread going.

Re: Starcraft identification help

Good morning Rat. It's better to post the image code from PB than links to the pics. It's easier to read with the pics in the post instead of going back and forth. IMHO

The latest pics don't look like a Starcraft to me. The longitudinal stringers and lack of ribs are very non-SC. I forgot to mention in my first reply the the transom/splashwell has a neat flow with the curve. It has a kinda '59 Chevy look to it.

Take a look at the Fiberglassics library. You might find something there. Good luck.

Whatever it is (not SC) it will make a great looking boat when finished.

I like the way the transom ans splashwell combine too. I like that rounded over look versus the more modern angular look.

Pretty cool little boat Rat. How long is it? Looks like it will be a fun project.

Havent measured her yet but I'd guess 14-15 feet. I like the styling and I really want to find out who made her so i can restore her using original colors. If not, well my kids wanna paint her up in General Lee colors. This is my first restoration project and it's already more fun than i thought it would be.

SUCCESS!!! I have identified this tinny as a DuraCraft 100% positive. Best guess on year model is somewhere between '52-'56. DuraCraft is now War Eagle isn't it?
I am going to contact War Eagle and see if they have any archives to compare my hull with.

Duh, I knew I'd seen the curved gunwale/splashwell transitions before. On a forlorn Duracraft 17-18' in some random backyard near a project we bid.

Good luck w/ War Eagle & getting some more info.
