well keep forgetting to take picture even when i remember my camera. iv been making some progress i descited to just use tremclad and a roller to paint the boat, the hull is finished (white) and i will paint the top and inside withing the next couple days while i had the boat off the trailer it needed some work took me 3 days and finished today i converted from rollers to bunksre wired with new lights and painted after going over it with a flap disc and wire wheel also got a new winch strap not a fan of frayed rope, lol im happy with the out come i think the trailer was original had coil sprins and panhard bar rollers where completley shot and had groves in them from the boat sitting so long i made adjustable brackets for the bunks. also today i took some 800 grit and sanded down the windsheild frame and then polished with autosol came out prety good didnt want to put to much into it it was just spur of the moment idea, i might figure out the best way to polish the plexi windsheild but its not that bad. tomorrow the boat goes back on the trailer to finish up the paint then the floor and carpet will go in as soon as the paints dry, its ready to go

well heres what it looks like now. still trying to get one of these old johnsons running hopfully within the next day or 2 i rebuilt the carb and fuel pump and points and coils looked brand new on the 28hp so i m trying that one now think i just need a new solenoid now. im having a bit of dificulty hooking up the cable steering, i know it should be simple think i have it wraped around the back of the steering wheel on the one side too much because it turns enough the one way but not the othere and cables come loos when i try to center the steerning anyone have any advice on that?

Nice work, that rig looks like a miniature Liquid Limo:)

Have you seen North Beach's thread on his 21' '66 Starchief? He used the same paint combination and it is a real classic look.

Good luck with the 40hp!

i might figure out the best way to polish the plexi windsheild but its not that bad.

Novus makes three different abrasive compounds to polish Plex. 1,2,3, one is final cleaning and 3 is for scratched surfaces. If you go to wrflalpacas SC ski champ thread you will see how nice it will clean up with some elbow grease.

He did all 3 steps twice I think, first with electric polisher and second by hand. I saw it in person and it looks brand new.

yes i seen the liquid limo my verry nice boat my girlvriend loved it and the colour so we actually tried to duplicate the colour and the funny thing is my kitchen/hallway is a verry similar color.

i actually already did the plexi windshield came out beter than before, i just wet sanded and used a polishing compound a friend had at my shop

so right now i figure my starter is bad, strange though because the same starter was working fine last week when i had it hooked up to the other motor but now on a different motor its not engaging and im getting continuity between the main body of the starter and the power wire took it apart cleaned it armature looks burnt a bit il try to clean that up but not sure why its not working now electrical isnt really my thing if anyone could offer advice on that id apreciate it. im dying to get this boat in the water been 3months now and there been good perchand walleye reports on lake erie

well i guess my time frame for this project was way off, been messin with the motor for a month now took it out for the first time a few days ago and it had no forward gear. linkage disconected. took it out for test run #2 today launched the boat and went to key start it and wasnt getting no juice. it had started fine in a bucket in the driveway earlier today. thats the point i should have put it back on the trailer but 2 pulls later she was running. puttered down the river a bit in the no wake zone and when i went to open it up a bit it was like it was only 1/4 throttle  couple minintes later motor started smoking and died:mad: i kept my cool this time, anchored and fished fo a half hour and proceded to atempt to pull start with no luck and then someone towed me back to the launch. i figured i shorted a igniton wire and fried a coil. well i got 6 days to get this thing running good, a family trip is panned already. well i thought id share my missfortune

You seem to be able to roll with the punches and that is good. Just fish if all else fails.
