The starter is starting to become very inconsistent. The solenoid clicks always, like its supposed to, but sometimes the starter will engage and work and sometimes it just sits there and does nothing and all you hear is the solenoid click.

I was just wondering if a start can be rebuilt instead of replaced, because I noticed how much they cost.

thanks

It can be rebuilt. As far as I know, it is a permanent magnet starter--pretty simple and not much to go wrong in there. But if the armature is bad, you might as well bite the bullet and replace the whole starter.

Check all connections and cables before spending on the starter itself.
