SIMPLY PUT...

The MARINE starter has INTERNAL spark prevention features...The starter is laying in a low (gas vapors are heavy, lay in the bottom of the engine comp) enclosed area...Can you imagine lighting a match around that area? That is also why you have a bilge blower

An auto starter does NOT have this feature.....not needed on a car
The 2 most important explosion features are the right starter AND the bilge blower..Both mandatory..


Please, please get the freeeking auto starter crap out of your head..Save your life, not a couple bucks

most auto marine electrical mechanic shops will rebuild the starter to marine spects as long as the starter was marine to begin with, and you will probably save some money to boot.

Did u look online for one cheaper. Not sure how much there charging to rebuild but they can be had online for reasonable price.

Wish mine was that cheap, approx 1/2 the size, 4 cyl engine PN 834339 $1057.14 Through Volvo. Anywhere from 250 on down online. Ebasic power has it the cheapest at 179.99

no i didnt have the auto in my head, EVERYONE kept telling me that "oh u can use an auto starter its the same bla bla bla bla bla!!! and i kept telling them no u CAN NOT, so i asked yall about it so i can show them this forum and say look , everyone on here are saying that u CANNOT use an auto ! so thats why i was asking about it, but i am getting it rebuilt and it should be done today by 3 pm and i have to get it ready for this weekend cause today is my wifes birthday and she wants to go on the lake this weekend , and if i dont have it ready...ummmm ill be sleeping in the dog house u know what i am saying so its mandatory that i do get it fixed lol !!!

After I posted..It did sink in my tiny little brain that you were getting your OG starter rebuilt..Sorry I came off half cocked at ya..SOME may say I drink too much coffee..(is it so wrong to smoke instant coffee out of a glass pipe?)

I do know what ya mean about the doghouse..Our boat wasnt ready for my GF's daughters Bday fishing trip...yikes ya think I cheated on her..If I knew I was gonna hafta sleep on the boat THIS many times I woulda got a cuddy! lol
