Batteries hot?Good connections? Pull the plugs and see if there is water in the pistons. Then start checking the starter.
Was it running good before it stopped.Hit anything? J

Re: starter problems???

was fine..didnt hit nothing, started it ran it about a hoursish to a spot we call the islands, anchored down..hung out about 5 hours without running pump..i was just assuming it was the starter though, it makes the grinding noise of a starter problem when you turn the key over. water was not high enough to get in motor or anything i dont think. it was just high enough where the starter was in water..for how long i dont know..stupid move on my behalf as i said earlier..so pull the spark plugs and look for water is what you say?

Re: starter problems???

If the starter got water in it, it now needs repaired or replaced.

Re: starter problems???

don s..thank you for your response as ive read alot on here and see your mostly always correct lol.. am i correct though, that it is the starter since it has a high grinding noise when i try to start it? im sure it could have used a new starter anyway..will the starter dry out and be fine? or is it a def replace or repair issue? thank you

Re: starter problems???

How many times do you need it repeated. Get it fixed or replaced. That water causes rust, rust causes things to not work.
Take it off and take your starter to your local starter/alternator shop. Let them check it out. They can usually fix them (if repairable) cheaper than replacement.
