Well my starter went out today on a holiday weekend! The only place I was able to get one for my 87 454 magnum was the auto parts store. They match perfectly, now what are the drawbacks at less than half the price?
In a marine starter there are spark screens there are not on automotive ones.If you have any fuel vapors in the eng. compartment when you crank the engine BOOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As stated above the down side is the BOOM. I just got a starter for my 5.7 from dbelectical.com comes with everything you need as far as shimnes and new bolts fast CHEAP shiping and i got mine for $67 including shiping. they are also very friendly and knowledgeable. I think the marina wanted $180 for one.
