is it possible to start a motor without the outdrive installed? If so, how do I cool it? It is an omc cobra 5.0. thanks.

Re: starting engine without outdrive

When I bought my new engine they were running some engines at the place. They had a 5 gallon bucket filled with water with a garden hose feeding water to it then a hose going to the water intake on the engine.

I'm not sure but I think you can just connect the hose to the water intake where the thermostat is. Just watch the temp.

Take a piece of garden hose (house end) that is cut off a couple feet long. Attach it to the end of your hose then jam the other end on the water inet and clamp it. Start it up.
