Re: State of the Union Address
The President was brave to bring up the topic of the preservation of traditional marriage.

I have to say with all the people yelling about the government sticking their nose in their bedroom, they seem pretty anxious to make public what goes on in their bedroom.

The institution of marriage is to recognize the biological imperitive that sustains our race. It has evolved over the years to include certain advantages that makes life, the rearing of children and distribution property easier to manage legally. I could save a lot of money if I marry my brother. Only one healthcare, one deductable, I could recieve his pension should he die, etc.

Unfortunately for those who are in favor of gay marriage, every arguement for it can be translated to paligomy, pedifelia, beastiality, almost verbatim.

This debate is more about social indoctrination than any legal advantage gained by marriage. I pay more for my insurance cuz I smoke, but that can't hold a candle to the dangers of gay (mutual masterbation) sex. But they don't want their lifestyle held against them, just acknoldged when it is an advantage for them.

The government exiles me, taxes me, and profiles me just because I smoke, and a large portion of society agrees that making me a second class citizen is appropriate. What I see as dangerous, not only socially/morally, but healthwise allows me to be labeled as a homophobe. It's wrong, but it makes having to defend their lifestyle so much more easy by minimizing my point of view.

I don't think gays are bad people, they are free to be whatever they want to be, do whatever they want to do, without laws interferring. But their reasons for marriage are far different than the traditional reasons for marriage and therefore need to be defined differently.
