Re: State of the Union Address

For me it would Parrott_head - but the problem is, the minute anything "good" came from it, everything Pointer said would come true. It would take about a nanosecond for that to be turned into a business where poor desperate women would be exploited all over the world. To think otherwise is totally naive IMHO. Now, if they could do the same thing with cells from umbilical cords then it would be a different matter.

What a crazy world we live in. People have no problem killing and harvesting fetuses but they oppose ousting a mass murder like Saddam and want to give people like Bin Laden the presumption of innocence. I feel like Alice on the other side of the looking glass. What a crazy upside down country we live in.

Parrot Head-thanks for the link, and to answer your ?: Absolutely.

All of my organs are going to science...slice em' dice em' do what you will. Same would go for unwanted embryos is all I'm thinking...
Lets cure disease, like diabedes, and cancer, and put the bible on the mantle for a minute here.
Good grief.

Pointer-I've never met anyone opposed to abortion who's reason wasn't religion based. In fact whenever I see a bumper sticker that says pro-life, I always make a point to get them to roll down their window and say "mind your own business".

Ralph,

With due respect, read the section of the above link titled "Stem Cell Basics".

There is great potential in this field of medical research. Pehaps we should be taking council of the doctors and ethicists that are directly involved in this endeavor.

Re: State of the Union Address

I always believed that any research would be done with fetus's of this nature. I really don't have a problem with the research, based on your sourcing caviate, because as mentioned earlier there is a "POTENTIAL" for this to be of value in treating disease.

No reason to be hanging out in the landfills waiting for the Planned Parenthood deposit for something that isn't proven to do anything. I would very much like to see if there is anything to the concept.

If proven fruitful, look out! See above post.... If not, then move on to other treatment options. Hence the security outlined above is necessary and implementation could be managed. But nuts, guts, and feathers it is more likely to be a disaster and another reason to violate the rights of a non-voting citizen.

Re: State of the Union Address

Let me tell you a little story

One day I was driving to school and there was this ad on the radio.

It was group of interns with a head doctor going over a case.

The doctor said the case is a poor pregnant woman. No dad. No money. The family had a genetic disease that would lead to the kid going deaf.

Lots of other nasty stuff too.

Then the head doc asks all the interns for recommendations.

They talk among themselves and agree (and i agreed with them) abort the pregnancy.

The head Doc informs them they just aborted Beethoven

At that moment I became pro-life

Now you have met somebody who is against abortion that is not driven by religious ideology.

Gentlemen....the ORIGINAL topic was "Who Really Watches the Address". We gotten completely off track to stem cell research. Please get back on track. If you want to debate research, start a new topic.

Ralph, If your Wife, or daughter was raped, would you be a pro-lifer? Would you want to look at the eyes of the rapist through the baby for the rest of it's life?

PS-I live in Canada, its a safe place because there are no gun toters here. If they can ram their view down my throat, I can voice mine. Its a free country here too.

Hey, look its toad who made a big stink about quitting and now he's back in a arugment.

I woundn't want any of these clowns that are running for president running the country. They keep insulting Bush but they are not saying how the'd fix any of the prolbems that they point out. I thought it was funny when that guy (I forget his name) starting yelling how he was gonna "TAKE THE WHITEHOUSE" and all them news people jumped all over him. He looked like a highschool student at a pep ralley.

We are independents, but seem to always vote republican. I would vote for GW, I like him and his dad. I met GW the first and his wife last summer. Both nice people, I've got a picture of myself with my arm around good'o Barbra Bush :D I think she should run :p

Careful there tadpole, lots of people get pissed off and leave for a while. Myself included. You've done it too.

You're a bit two faced. You kind of double crossed your old buddy Ray didn't you? Lucy, you have some esplainin' to doooo, (if) when he comes back...

Ryan T wrote: January 15, 2004 04:14 PM

"In all do respect for Ray, if this was my site I would have done this along time ago.

I'm sure he's a good guy, but he must be a TON of work for the mods.

Posters shouldn't have to be babysat."

Pretty rude.
Meanwhile it had nothing to do with him, it was a problem with his account.

I'd suggest you don't start with me Ryan.
