Hello guys, I'm confused, I pulled the stator out of my 15 hp and it also has an auxiliary, with 3 windings, can anyone tell me which one is the stator
I don't get the ohms reading on the black/yellow. Or the black/white wire from the stator, it is separate from the auxiliary stator, is the aux stator
Only for charging , need some advice before I order thanks Dave

The 1994 (my closest reference) 15 comes with a standard 5 amp on electrics which is optional on manuals.

The inputs to the rectifiers on a 2005 90 hp are the two yellow wires coming from under the cowl. The others stator wires are triggers. 2 different coil circuits for triggers and alternators.

The 3 windings are charging coils only. The other thing under there is the pickup for the ignition. Very seldom do those stators ever go bad. What problem are you having?

Hello what exactly do you want to know. The charging system on that is completely seperate from the ignition pick-up. The black and yellow wires are for the kill switch. The 6,8,9.9,15,18,20 and 25 hp all use the same starter set-up in those years.

Flyingscott, say I do have another question if you don't mind, I have a 1959 10hp Johnson that has
A bad coil under the flywheel, I'm going to replace it tomorrow maybe, can you tell me how to set the part of
The coil that rides against the flywheel , seems like I can move it 1/8 of an inch when the screws are loose
Thanks

On the 10 hp on the coil mount you will see a beveled edge. Back the lamination up as far back as possible to line up with the inside edge of the bevel. On the 15 hp I would pull the coils right out because they will be producing electricity, unless they are fried already which is possible. At a minimum I would tape the ends up very well. . If you pull them you need to replace the mounting bolts with shorter ones.
