140 merc alpha 1 drive. My problem is... I switched props from a standard aluminum to a Turning Point Legacy aluminum, which has the same rake and cup as a stainless prop. during the madness, i realized i had a clearance issue with my trim tab, so i got the grinder out and fixed that, so i thought. now my problem is, that at wot i constantly have to hold my wheel or the boat will steer to the left. I have tried turning the tab both ways, and it doesnt make a difference. it is a bear to turn right. i had no problems before the prop change, and i have checked all of the cables for problems. it seems to be fine from low to mid range, but the trouble starts at higher rpms. can i take my trim tab off for a test run to see what happens, or will i hurt something? my boat does not have power steering. i was thinking maybe i took too much off of it? maybe i have to get an anode made for stainless props?

Sounds like you need to get a new trim tab.......and the right size diameter prop.
And take note where the index mark is when you take the ruined one off so you can put the new one back into proper alignment or you'll be experimenting some more.

Re: Steering Adjustment

There is an "extra long" trim tab to compensate the big diameter. Just have to find one.
