My steering arm has rusted up pretty bad. I have hydraulic steering. I got it freed up the problem is in the top bushing area but the bottom seal is shot and I cant pump grease and get it to come out the top bushing. I am thinking about drill a hole thru the bracket from the back side of the bracket and a little off to one side to get clearence and installing a zerk. When I drill it I will drill thru the bushing to the steering arm them ream it to get all the bushing out the steering arm and this should allow me to pump grease directly into the bushing. Does anybody know approx. how long the bushing is in this motor. The cost of replacing the steering arm is more than I want to spend. The motor has been used in saltwater and I am worried about not being able to get all that is required appart without breaking the mid section or something else. I used phosphoric acid (grout cleaner) to dissolve the rust and have it steering like a new one now so if I lube it each time out it should do fine. Any thoughts?
