i think it's crap. i grew up listening to the show. maybe i don't have the high moral standards i should, but i find his show entertaining and harmless. if it offends someone, i really believe they can turn the channel. i was still able to catch him this morning off a baltimore channel, so that's good news.

your thoughts?

LOS ANGELES, Feb 25 (Reuters) - Radio station giant Clear Channel Communications Inc. said on Wednesday it was dumping nationally syndicated shock jock Howard Stern from its stations under a new "zero tolerance" policy toward indecency.

howard can be hilarious, but the problem with being
the ultimate shock jock is you constantly have to keep
moving the bar and be more shocking than you
were yesterday.

Personally I couldn't stand the SOB. But then again Both of my hands are able to function so I just changed the station. :D :D

Give it a few year and it will be like the country in the Sly stallone, Sandra bullock, and Wesly Snipes movie Demolition man I believe was the name of it. There will be computer sensors everywhere which will fine you for indecency.

Y'all can thank Janet Jackson for this. Personally I am an Imus listener so it doesn't affect me.

Barely, I'm waiting for that cantacerous old clam to kick it on the air. He surrounds himself with some funny people though. I've almost crashed my truck several times on the way to work from laughing so hard :D Why aren't you at work young man

This wasnt a government activated thing, Clear Channel chose to do this on their own.

All he has to do is go to satelite radio, and he can say as he pleases.

Ken

You mean all the restaurants will be Taco Bell? And wait, I still haven't figured out how to use those shells! :D :D

Seriously, it's all about ratings. Now they have a chance to improve their ratings and make themselves feel like good corporate citizens and guardians of our moral integrity yada yada yada. Just the opinion of a cynic.

I have to agree with MY.... :p .

Anyway, I am not a regular fan of stern but if I tune in I do get a big laugh. Hate robins personality, but she has a beautiful voice, except for her laugh...had to turn it off one day with the kids in the truck..he was talking about getting a mumkin I believe it was...thats a bit over the top but it still make me chuckle and that worries me.

Hi Matt
Another point of view

mattttt25
if it offends someone, i really believe they can turn the channel.
I agree 100% and do the same myself. As is our right/choice to do so.

kenimpzoom
This wasnt a government activated thing, Clear Channel chose to do this on their own.
And that is Clear Channel's choice to make. They don't want people to turn the channel!

Advertising pays the bills. Yea it may sux from your point of view but if enough people like you follow Howard to another channel, Clear Channel will see this and bring him back.

Glad you were able to find another place to listen to to what you want to hear.

you are forgetting something, money runs everything, there is no free speech, and censorship is everywhere

look at how much gets "poofed" on here

but if a half naked chick is fondling a fillet knife in a lewd and suggestive manner, well by god, THAT is to MAKE MONEY, and its ok

janet jackson and her pierced milk duct? its ok for kids to suck the thing for a few years, but a year later he or she will be permanently scarred by seeing one, its total BS, hypocracy is RAMPANT in America, the same sanctimonious blood suckers that sanction the dancing prancing half naked CHEERLEADERS that roll in the moolah thru merchandizing and lets get REAL here people, the draw of their RAW SEXUALITY, THEY are ok ... janet covered head to toe except for a moment of exposed (and occluded) flesh is the focus of outrage and indignation, the embraceable ewes wiggle and jiggle their far greater exposed flesh to the cheering delight of millions

censorhip

police state

might as well learn to speak german, the level of fascism is rising like a rocket here in the good old USA, Orwell was 20 years late, should have called 1984 2004, he would have been dead on the money

RIGHT ON! CrappieFisherman!
Couldn't have said it better! And by the way... Welcome to the forum!

.
.

A person should be able to turn the channel if they don't want to hear it.

Same situation if it were a strip club down the street. If you don't like it... THEN DON'T GO IN!

DUH?

They should NOT have taken Stern off the air. That is total BS.
He was strange, yes, but I too have the ability to change the station.

It's going downhill fast!
I just can't believe how far we have fallen as a nation. How far is it going to go?

Guaranteed they will have all talk shows and similar removed next.

H.

Re: stern yanked off air

It was indeed a government thing. Clear Channel got a huge government fine for something that went over their airwaves (not Stern), and adopted a zero tolerance policy for "indecency" (whatever that is) and zapped Stern.

well, after the news last night and listening to him this morning, this thing will only make him stronger and more popular. the radio station here is already advertising how they "are one of the few, proud channels to keep howard."

stern isn't even mad at clear channel. he recognizes that the ceo had to testify in front of congress yesterday. poor guy needed some ammo, so he pulled stern for a bit. i think he'll be back.

Re: stern yanked off air

The Clear Channel jock that got them fined was Bubba the Love Sponge. He was terminated last week. He was singled out by a listener in Florida who then enlisted some high powered lawyers to stick it to Bubba. He was obnoxious and lewd at times but as others have said I can change the channel. Just curious if anyone else realized that the guy who runs the FCC is Mike Powell. Son of Colin. I find it interesting that the first amendment is only applicable to some these days instead of all.
