Is there any reason that I shouldn't store an outboard laying in it's side on wooden blocks? It's a 197? 70HP Johnson.

Sounds like somebody needs another boat. Trust me MBS (multiple boat syndrome) is the best disease I have ever gotten. It is (hopefully) about to get worse. My Johnson 140 is taking me fishing. My johnson 70 is good extra motor off boat I parted. Dont know what to do with it yet.![]()

The Owner's Manual for one of my small outboards specifically warns against certain orientations when transporting or storing it. It has an external, remote gas tank so it's not about the gasoline tank. There is a small amount of gasoline in the carb bowl and lines and I suppose some residual oil and water to contend with. I've violated those warnings a few times but for the most part, I try to adhere to their recommendations as much as possible since I don't know what considerations went into those recommendations.
4 strokes must be set on one side only. Unless ya drain the oil, then anyway ya want
