I have a 95' 25 hp Merc. I don't have a stand to store it upright for the winter. Is it possible to lean it upright in a corner of the garage or should I lie it down.

upright is fine. you may want to fog/winterize as well, depending where you are.....

Upright if possible, Wollaston.

Do a search here for outboard stands. There have been several DIY projects posted.

Good luck. :)

If you live in an area where it gets below freezing you don't want to leave it lying down in case there is any water left anywhere inside. It will crack whatever.

I recommend building a stand on rollers. It makes life so much easier to be able to roll it around, and you can use it for other stuff as well. Mine has proven invaluable. Right now I have a 115 hp Evinrude sitting on it waiting for me to figure out what to do with the thing. I have repaired, rebuilt a number of large and small outboards on it, and when not in use I can place it where my rolling toolbox is, and just roll the toolbox between the legs and it is out of the way. Otherwise, you can prop it in the corner, just make sure it won't slide and fall.
