Need some help. My 1996 150 Mariner has had a problem for the past 6 months. It seems like the engine is running fine. It cold started after a 3 month layup with just 2 cranks. The water pressure seems to be fine ... it's putting up a good bit of smoke and going through oil like it always has ... and it performs normally. My problem is that the alarm is sounding constantly when the engine runs. It's very quite and almost hard to detect when it's at idle. Then it increases as I turn up the throttle. It doesn't matter if I turn it up in gear or just revving the engine ... same result. When I turn the throttle back down the alarm slowly gets quieter again. Any ideas as to what's going on? Do ya'll think it's an alarm problem or an engine problem?
