Has anyone had success with these new replacement motors, I believe by ARCO?

Has anybody had success having their old motor rebuilt?

Ok, you can quit talking to yourself now Kagee, Boomyal to the rescue!:p Yeah, the motor can be rebuilt. It's just an electric motor. I was however told that if the armature and windings were ever oil soaked that they would never deliver full torque again. I am not so sure that I believe that however. Although my motor is now 32 y/o, it has been soaked and cleaned a couple of times.

I'd call around to local alt/gen/starter repair shops and see if anyone can turn and recut the commutator. Clean her up, throw in some new brushes and away you should go.

Still wouldn't hurt to have a spare tho. I'd like to see a torque test on one of the after market units. That would be the only key as to whether they were any good.

Well, I decided to be the guinea pig. I ordered one off EBAy from a parts house in Georgia. Looked up ARCO on the net and seems to be a legit manufacturer of after-market auto and marine electrics. The new tilt motor with shipping was $105.95.

When I swap the old one I'll look into rebuilding it as a spare. The new motor has a 1 year warranty.

Taking one for the Team, you have an obligation to report back once she's installed.:p

I replaced my TRIM motor with an arco. Two seasons down so far so good. I even got a free arco sticker with mine.
