I got pretty dang excited, first time ever working on an outboard engine or any kind of engine for that matter and I achieved my goal. Just wanted to say thanks for the many tips I got from you guys prior to taking on this endeavor. My 115 evinrude had trouble starting and eventually started and ran ok, happened everytime I killed the engine. I ordered my carb kits from here (saved myself 35 bucks) and did the work myself. afterwords I primed the ball, turned the key and after a minute, started right up. killed it, turned it right back on no issues, thank goodness. Was a little worried, I had several little washers and o rings left but couldn't find a place for them to go. Any thoughts? Oh well, atleast for now I'm excited.

Glad you got it. If you're going to do any more work on the mtr, Get your self an OEM Factory Service Manual.

dont worry "much" about extra parts in the kit, the kits are made to cover several different carbs. as long as you put back what you removed , its all good! and congrats on the work you did ! and as boobie said, a manual will save you big bucks if you plan to service the motor yourself!

I often rebuild 2 stroke carbs without kits. If you're careful removing the gaskets, a kit is not always required.

It's just a matter of getting all the adjustment screws back where they were originally, and spraying the heck out of the inside of the carb with aerosol carb. cleaners.

I pay especially close attention to the needle valves and floats, as they're prime offenders when 90/10 gasoline and trash gets into the engine. When you stop the engine and see drip, drip, drip down the carb throats, it's the needle valves. And remember that anything rubber can be affected by the 90/10 gasoline breaking down, and that includes gas lines and fuel bulbs.
