Don't give up now Geo, your almost there!!! C'mon guy's quit screwin around and find this guy some suction cups. Post some pics Geo maybe we can help with a different solution for attachment. Maybe a shock with a swivel on the end so you can turn your head and absorb the bumps a little better.We won't steal your Idea we promise but we do need pics or at least a drawing of the concept.

Now,the trailer stretcher idea,that may be plausable!! I have been planning on extending the rear of my trailer,it is about 2 feet too short for my boat.
I will hopefully be doing this early next spring,but will stay tuned on your progress-maybe you can use mine for testing,[no charge of course]-thereby saving me materials cost and a lot of labor. I will takes pics step by step of the process,but we won't show any detail of the actual "stretcher",,to avoid being copied!!

You know, when I first read this I sat and stared with my jaw on my desk for about 5 minutes, then for an hour after I was just purely stunned. Then of course I started wondering how this could work and still be safe... as well as alternatives to the problem. Without seeing the actual idea I can't post anything negative about the idea, think of what the Wright brothers probably went through with their "flying machine". Innovation and invention never come to fruition from listening to the nay-sayers. Yes, take it as constructive criticism to improve, but don't be discouraged by it.

For the sake of constructive criticism though, I think it's probably wise you stepped back from the helmet idea. I couldn't imagine having something like that solidly attached to my bike let alone my helmet. I'm bothered enough as it is when I'm riding my FLHTC because of all the "extra" stuff that's on the bike that could be a potential threat to me in an accident. I'd want to make sure that I could be cleanly ejected from the bike so I'm clear of potential harm from the bike, although of course road obsticles provide a threat as well. Having a kayak or canoe sitting on my head, or right behind me with a mount point on my helmet would be very concerning come accident time.

I'm sure the final design would have included a Kayak Ejector that would eject the boat in an accident. A couple of auto air bag sensors is all that would be needed along with a canopy ejector shell or two from a fighter jet.

I can't tell you when I last laughed so hard, and for all you "Ney Sayers" I have attached this prototype that I worked up in just a few minutes.

You just run your safety cable in an "8" pattern around the kayak and under your chin going through the holes.

It really is that simple...

I guess somebody thought this was a joke and moved my post. It was not intended to be in the humor category. Future inventions will be kept inhouse until you see it in the stores.

At first I thought this post was in the wrong forum.. Nope, it's right. So have you thought about how you might fair if you have to turn your head. What happens when the wind catches it? At 55 it will either rip you head off or the helmet.

No, man, don't even try this at home. This is one for Myth Busters or Ripley's believe it or not.

The worst part about this is that I can't tell if your serious or not. Either you're playing it well or your absolutely out of your mind.

By the way, I'm saying that for your own good just in case you are serious and actually try this.

Without naysaying his idea until a pic or illustration is shown...

As a rider of many years I will say this much - there's no way in the world I would ever ride with anything attached to my helmet... I turn my head way to often when I ride... (Verify traffic before changing lanes everytime, check cross streets to see if anyone may be running the light/stop sign, etc)... I've also stepped off a bike or two and would hate to think of what would have happened it I had been restricted even the slightest bit... Then there's the very real possiblility of Joe Cager running you off the road just trying to get a closer look at what in the world you are doing riding a bike with a yak on it...

I do wish you the best of luck and hope you take the safety aspects VERY seriously...

well i couldnt imagine atatching something to my head----i dont wear helmets unless im on a dirtbike.


how about rigging up something to mount on you shoulders or rigging some kind of stabilizer bracket that could be easily mounted/removed from up around the front of the frame where the forks are attached?


i dont know anyhthing about your design but im sure you have it all worked out.

i am also assuming you have made some kind of carrier and your head is only the stabilizer ..........but isnt there another way to stabilize?

how far are you planning on traveling and are you going to be on any roads that exceed 45mph?..........nobody has asked this for some reason----unless i missed it--i got tired of reading the jokes.

im sure no one meant to insult you.......but a few more intelligent suggestions rather than jokes is what you need.

Actually, I like the concept in the photo but there needs to be a swivel or bearing of some sort between the two suction cups so they can rotate when you turn your head.

I think he would be able to just load it into the kayak and strap it down, as I envision this will be carrying the kayak upright instead of upside down. There would be much less wind drag mounting it this way.

I was thinking of something along the lines of this (which I drew up) would be better maybe. Attach the rack to the crash bar in the front, then to the frame somewhere in the fender area.

Or get a latter rack off of one of the roofer's work trucks and mount it on the bike to hold the Kayak overhead. I want 50% of the patent if you happen to go with one of my ideas by the way .

Of the two designs, I would have to vote for your first one. Even though it would be more weight at least the weight would be evenly distributed.
