While I was pulling for the Bears and the Jets (and I was wrong about how far the Pats would get), I would like to point out that I called Steelers / Packers in the Superbowl, all the way back in week 13 (post #10 in this thread) :D :

Now, who do you like? I'm saying Steelers in a defensive struggle, maybe a 14-10 type game. With these two defenses I do not expect the type of crazy scoring we've seen through the playoffs.

No way a defensive struggle. The pack has way to many weapons for the Steelers. I know I am a cheese head but I really believe that the Packers will prevail. Rogers got another concussion in the Bears game with that vicious hit (helmet to jaw) and still was better than most in the NFL. I hope the league fines that guy big time. It was a late and possibly career ending type of hit. So if Rogers can stay healthy though the whole game I believe it will be a 37 to 13 game. A-rod is murder in a dome or on carpet. Best stats in the NFL.

Re: Super Bowl 45 thread.

The Packers do indeed pose challenges to the Steelers that are the most difficult kind. Great passing attack, which they have struggled with for YEARS! (See the NE game earlier this year) However, that is what Arizona had 2 years ago, and the Stillers survived it. Green Bay has a good 3-4 defense (the best kind!), but it has not played an offense that will run the ball like the Steelers will try. If Pouncy is healthy, the Steelers run game is great, when they actually try to use it. Against the Packers, they have no choice. They must keep Rodgers & Co off the field, like they did Warner & Co.
The Pack definately have the ability to beat the Steelers, but not by 24 points. I don't think they'll score 24 points on the Steelers.

Steelers 20-17.

Packers with a 10 point spread is my guess ?????
But it's just a guess.
Mrs Ken and I have been invited to the Superbowl party at Windsor Casino by a friend of hers. Huge screen TV's, free food and booze and door prizes as well.
We will be flipping a coin for the designated driver position
Looking for a double headed coin :D

You are definitely a Cheesehead and not looking at the game realistically! The Pack, although dramatically improved from the middle of the season on, are not the best team in the league. The Steelers have the #1 defense in the league. Both QB's match up with Rodgers having the better arm and being mobile, maybe more mobile than Big Ben, but Big Ben is, well, big, and hard to bring down and can really stretch out a play. Not sure Matthews and Co can hang with him.

Rodgers will have to contend with Palomalu, Farrior, Hampton, et al. Green Bay will have to put the ball up, and Steeler D usually bends, but doesn't break against the pass - interceptions and a few sacks likely.

Expect Ben to pass enough to Ward and Miller with the long threat of Wallace to keep the defense honest, but the running game of Mendenal, Redman, and Moore should punish the defense enough to gain enough yards to win. Steelers have won very "pretty" games, that is not the Steeler way. But in the end, they seem to win. I expect the Steelers to come out on top, but only by 4 points or less ... maybe 17-14, 21-17, 21-20, 24-20, 24-21 ... you get the point, some score like that. Probably a defensive score that wins it in the end.

Pouncey's return at center would be a huge lift for the Steelers.

Re: Super Bowl 45 thread.

Yeah guys sorry but I thought the Superbowl was won by the Steelers this past weekend, I didn't see the Packers or the bears beating the Jets or the Steelers and now that its the Pack against the Steelers I am sticking with it. Steelers Defense is faster harder hitting, I see Rodgers getting knocked out of the game before the half and the games over. Steelers by 10 say 24-14

I don't have a dog in this fight, wife is a Steelers fanatic, truth be known she would dump me like last weeks garbage for a shot at Troy Polamalu so I'm trying to give an unbiased opinion here.

I am pulling for the Packers and hope they will win. Realisticly I think the Steelers will prevail. Either way, Go Pack.

I would NEVER say that. ;) I think the Packers are a more dangerous and better matched team against the Steelers than the Jets are/were. While the AFC as a conference overall is BETTER than the NFC, the Packers are the "worst case scenario" for the Steelers.

I picked Packers over New England when the playoffs began. I thing the pack will win for sure. They have had the toughest road to the superbowl I can remember and have looked good throughout.

Both teams are well managed, well coached and have the talent to win so it should be a fun game to watch.

That's why they might lose. They're due. It way come down to whichever team can stay focused during the next 2 weeks.....

Not an opinion, the AFC was 34-30 versus the NFC this year. And while the AFC did have 3 teams that only won 4 games, the NFC had a 2 win team and a 7-9 division champ. AFC is better than the NFC.

I understand by numbers, but I just believe that anytime the AFC plays the NFC you have the aerial assault of the AFC versus the brute force of the NFC, smash mouth football versus throw it quick! I know maybe I need to get out of the 80's but what can I say I'm old......fashioned!:D

Even though I live in AFC country I have always enjoyed NFC football more, punch them in the face kinda football Chicago Bears Mike Ditka football. So maybe I will always think the NFC is better, I dunno?

You have it backwards, the AFC (with exception of Indy & New England) is the "running" league. Just look at the Jets, Steelers, Bengals, Jacksonville, Tennessee, and Baltimore. On the other hand, look at Seattle, NO, and GB in the NFC, with barely any attempts to run the ball. 10 1000+ yard rushers in the AFC (with the league leader over 1600 yards) versus 7 1000+ rushers in the NFC (with their leader at 1300+) Yes, the AFC has more 4000+ yards passers, too. Maybe the AFC just has better overall offensive numbers?

I would hardly call the Bears a smash-mouth team, btw.

Have you ever watched a Pittsburgh/Baltimore game in the past 5 years? No huge aerial assaults there. The AFC North is your smash mouth division.

Re: Super Bowl 45 thread.

Dont take this the wrong way Packer fans, but anyone who can even put the Bears defense in the same sentence as the Steelers defense, well imho, is just plain crazy :). You can very easily send any one of the Steeler defensive players to the pro bowl. Now I think Rodgers is a great qb and can pick the NFC apart (as he did all season) but I dont know if he can against the Steelers. We just find the way to get the job done and have to many weapons that can make game "swinging" plays at any given moment. I think the biggest fear for the Packers is thier defense. Can they stop big ben and our newly found running game? We will see. I'm predicting 24-10 Steelers. Either way I think it is going to be a great game.

GO STEELERS!
