Surface prep when using Gluvit

Hi Folks,

I have stripped the rotted floor from my aluminum 16" Bass Tracker and as a precaution while the hull is exposed I want to use Gluvit on the rivets. I'm using a strong detergent and pressure washer to clean the hull. Is it necessary to use a aluminum wash and sand the hull? How long would it take to sand the rivets(not getting any younger)?

Sanding would be ideal but at the very least wipe down with Acetone to remove all traces of oil or grease.
