Very cool looking!
Is that through the hull exhaust? If so, where would I find it? Any part #'s?
Is the power steering pump functional?

Ayuh,.... The P/S is functional,+ the Thru-hulls are Self-Engineered...;)

From reading through your old posts on the thru the hull exhaust, I am assuming you do not recommend it due to the noise.
What about the power steering? I have never operated a boat with power steering before, but from fighting the pull left or right at high speeds while turning in my current manual steering boat, I could see where it would be an advantage.
Does the power steering help with this?

Ayuh,.... Thru-hulls Suck in my book,... exiting Above the waterline anyways,....

If you're gonna do the refit,...
Go buy a running boat with the driveline you want,.... And Junk it out for the Parts....
It's Waaaaaay Cheaper,+ you'll have Every Single Part it takes to do the whole refit....

btw,... Yes, you want P/S with anything bigger than a 3.0l....

That's the plan, I search craigslist and boat salvage sites everyday looking for the donor boat.
Did the 4.3 Vortecs start in 1996 like the trucks did?
Hoping to find a late model that was wrecked while trailering, run aground- hole on the hull, tree fell on, etc.
I am not in a terrible hurry, my 2.5 still runs good. But it is the original 40 year old engine and outdrive, I cannot expect it to last forever. I figure there has got to be a good amount of corrosion to the block and heads, even though the previous owner always winterized with automotive antifreeze.
I am just hoping to have all of the parts ready for when it does finally give up. If I am going to spend money eventually on a new engine anyway, I might as well upgrade at the same time.
If sometime you stumble across a picture or drawing of the engine mounts you made for your 4.3, please post them. From the other pictures you posted and your description of the mounts I have a pretty good of idea of what they look like. But a picture or drawing of them would definetly fill in the blanks for me.

Ayuh,.. 96 was the Intro year,... Just count the intake bolts, Vortec's are only 8 bolts...
Pre-Vortec are 12...

Like most of my projects, the plans never see paper, just in my noggin'...

Basically, they're aluminum Z shaped plates, .090 thick, pop-riveted to the top of the stringers,+ to the ribs in the bilge...
The top picture is the best shot I have in my catalog at this point,...

Ok, that makes more sense. I knew they was pop riveted on top to the stringers but I could not figure out where they went to on the bottom.

Ayuh,... It's pretty basic stuff,...
Bend a flat plate into a box, or triangle to create Strength...
And, of course, I love the comments I hear that go along the lines of,...
"What, your motor is held down by Pop-rivets",..?? :D
