I am working on repairing a '92 48hp Evinrude. It would work when hooked up to a waterhose but when I took it to the lake it would shut down. There fore I thought it was a waterpump/impeller problem. I took it to a mechanic and he said yes it sounds like that is the problem. He looked at it and noticed that here was water in the oil so he said I needed the lower unit resealed, and a tune up and the plugs replaced, since evidentally the previous repair person used NKG plugs on it. I since I didn't have the $500 to pay him I bought a repair manual and did it myself, $100 parts and manuel. Everything went fine/great. I took it apart and put it back together with no problems and did it exactly like the manual said. Today I hooked the hose up to and it seemed to be fine so I took it to the lake to try it out. I backed it in the lake and started it. I ran it for awhile to make sure that the impeller was pumping the water through and it ran fine....until I got it off the trailer. Then it died on me and would not crank back up. So I paddled my way back to the dock and another fisherman was nice enough to help me get it back onto the trailer. !!!!But no my bad luck didn't have to stop there.....I pulled the boat up and did all the regular things to secure it back on the trailer so I could take home and see what the problem might be. Well, it appears that oil is coming out of the propeller/exhaust. All I know is it wasn't happening before and now it is....and to top it all off.....at some point in time the key fell out of my pocket and now I don't have a key to the #*%! BOAT or my second key for the lock on the trailer hitch. AM I DOING SOMETHING WRONG??? OR IS GOD TRYING TO TELL ME TO NOT HAVE A BOAT???? I am pissed, frustrated and want to SCREAM
. What do I do next...am I just gonna have to break down and take it to a mechanic, I don't have the $$$$ ???
