Sylvan 1989 Restore

Hi all ,
OK in the middle of my restoration and have a question....Is there any adhesive I can lay down on the bow to attach the new Vinyl....Problem is it must be able to setup in very cold temps as I'm working in one of those tarp garage's and can get it warm enough to work in but the Aluminum is not above freezing..This has me stopped right now until I can come up with a solution any advise besides the obvious like put it in a warmer place .... Also I will be adding some pics soon have been working on it about 20 days now after work and on the weekend's and its coldddddddddddddd...

I'm guessing your talking about vinyl flooring... right? Anyway... I completely restored the interior of my boat in my cold garage last winter. I used contact cement on all of the vinyl and carpet. I was a little concerned about this approach at first, due to the cold. But, it turned out that it worked great. In fact, in some ways I found the contact cement to be a little more forgiving in the colder weather and easier to work with due to the slower set up time.

After that project last winter, I'll tell you - I don't envy you. I froze my behind off out there. If I tackle such a project again, the garage will be insulated and properly heated first. Try and stay warm out there. Good luck.

McGR thanks yeah things don't hurt as much when your frozen until you come inside then all the metal cuts and jammed fingers start to warm up.............

OK question I installed my new Aluminum gas tank so that one is empty the other tank is half full when I hook up the battery turn the switch I get no gas reading on the half full tank ....Does the engine need to be running or do I have a wiring issue... I did replace two wires where a mouse had taken the insulation off but I know they are hooked correctly....any ideas ?

The tank should have a gauge lead and a ground. Ground the gauge lead and check, if no movement check gauge and ground. Also could be power supply to gauge. Do you have one gauge or two?

I only have one gauge but the switch toggles left and right for starboard tank and port...Its getting real cold now but I think I will head back out and try with my voltmeter to check again....

When I said I turned the switch I was talking about the toggle from port to stb not the ignition Key...When I turn that even slowley there does not seem to be a run or acc position the engine try's to turn over so I'm really not keen on that one.....I tested all the leads to the toggle switch and the gauge no power anywhere..So I guess my next step will be to jumper a hot to the switch and see if that works...Of course I will wait and see what the experts have to say about doing that one....or it could be that the engine needs to be running to get a reading ? thanks

OK so I read the electronics section and found out that everything works just fine thanks to the wiring diagram.........:redface:

I have been doing a complete resto on the same boat for about a year now. We decided to paint the bow with PPG Aquapon paint with some sand and it turned out great. I will try to post some pictures in the next couple of days. If you have any questions let me know.

Sounds good I'll have some new pics out soon maybe tomorrow... Put in all new foam in the cabin..removed all the windows striped them of all the years of SILICONE ... Just got my new Vinly for the topside ( Kinda like flooring Vinly ) will be installing that this weekend if the weather hovers around 40...Added two new blowers today...New fuel water seperator tomorrow...After the Vinly goes in I plan on putting the windows back in with this stuff doesn't freeze ,dry out or crack.... I love this stuff.....Beckett Seaming Tape...Need to start filling all the drill holes on the top side from the years of equipment......ETC ...I'll post pics as I go along
