I have an 88 XR2 150, just started it on muffs, first run since last summer. At idle my tach is reading 3000 rpms.
The only thing I have done is remove my oil injection and the lubalert module. Any suggestions on where to look first. Or just possibly a bad tach.....

Re: Tach reading high

Check the back of the tach. Depending on which manufacturer it is there is usually a calibrationi dial back there that adjusts the tach for a specific number of pulses which corresponds to various alternator output pulses. I think yours should be set to 6P,.

I got the same problem i have 1966 Model 1100 6 Cyl, the tach that I'm trying to install does have the adjustment screw, anyone knows what it should be set at?

Thanks

No clue on your pulse for that motor, but you can change it (tach setting) while the motor is running to check
