Now this one makes sense since it is capturing and transferring FREE heat into your water tank. The only cost is in running the pump (compressor) the heat is free. It needs to be installed in an unoccupied but protected space such as a garage or basement or else it will be removing heat from your house (maybe not a bad thing in summer!) I don't know how elaborate the controls are....that could be key to reliability.

I spent some time weighing everything out and decided to go with one of these ^^^. With the cost of LP, and my busy family of five, I couldn't see the savings on a tankless.
I've only had it in for a couple of months now, but at the moment, I seem to have some pretty favorable numbers coming back.
