Re: Tashasdaddy Has passed away
Sorry to hear of TD's passing. He was one of the first people here to help me out both with specific questions and where to post.
Hi,
My name is Mark, and I met Robert on the iboats.com online boat forums. Although I never met Robert in person (I live in New Jersey), after years of posting messages I got to know him a little bit from his love of boats and felt a great sorrow at his passing. I want to share a part of his life with you that may not be well known to those outside the boating online community.
Robert was a great contributor to the iboats.com boating forums. He took great zeal in helping others with their boating issues. And he did it all for the love of boating. Robert (known as Tashasdaddy on the forums) will be sorely missed.
Robert joined the boat forum in November of 2005, and having been a member for 3 years at that point myself, I was a little taken back by this "brusk and outspoken" gentlemen from Florida. After a while his experience and knowledge of boats and boating were obvious to the iboats.com owners and he was offered a position as a Moderator. A high level recognition of ability, competence and attitude in the online forum world. As such, Robert was able to monitor members issues and resolve conflicts between members along with his regular contributions to helping members with motor problems or broken boats. His "matter of fact" and "no nonsense" methodology got the job done in short order, and quickly made him stand out as an authority that would not stand for people making trouble or just arguing pointlessly. In addition to his contributions to repairs, he helped keep the forums a family "G" rated forum safe for a family member of any age to read or participate.
Regular contributing members like myself got a good feel of Roberts continued efforts to help those in need of boat advice. It was apparent that he had a solid knowledge of outboard motors, boat configurations, and overall boat maintenance.
Although I was not the closest member of the forum to Robert (we often disagreed on some very specific boat repair issues related to materials and/or practices) I enjoyed our good spirited discussions.
Robert kept his personal life rather private, and only a few times early on mentioned his children. I know he had strong feelings for them, and did miss them, albit there were some family issues he would not discuss online.
Robert was well known for his companion dog Tasha, who more often than not was in any photo of Robert posted on the forum.
My deepest sympathies to Roberts family and friends,
Regards,
Mark.
