Re: TD'S Biggest Goof Ever
It is a tiller operated motor, so I shift with the little lever on the starboard side of the motor. I have a shifter extension, so there is a big, and very obvious difference between neutral and gear.
The only thing that switch does is keep the motor from starting when in gear.i dont know if i would disable that switch.
i had a shifter cable that the outside housing was broken and frayed but i thought well its just the shifter if i have to ill pull the cowl and shift it by hand...........bad idea one time before i fixed it - it didnt shift and when i was trailering the boat i pulled back to reverse to slow down ............wrong.....she shot forward and almost gave me and the wife a heartattack and i could have sworn it pushed the truck up the ramp a foot when i hit the trailor luckily i was dead on with the trailer
