Sorry to say, but that motor sounds terrible.

I suspect you have something wrong in that engine.

What is with the air vents in the top cowl?

If it dies in idle, neutral that means either the idle screw or the fuel-air mixture screw is not set right. Have you tried the "link and synch" procedure discussed in one of the pinned or sticky threads? Have you verified timing? Compression?

Profile? Location? You might be close to someone who can help???
Spark and compression tests??
Check timing and check the block for piston rods sticking out of the side.

Re: Tell me how you hear this force 120

It is very difficult to diagnose an engine running on muffs. It has no load and typically it will run better than it runs in gear in the water. Thus, I can not tell much from the video.

Stalling in gear at idle has many causes--too low an idle speed is the main reason. But, why is the idle speed low? Is it missing on one cylinder? Probably not, because you state that it runs well at top speed.

So, we are left with two choices: Is the prop too big or is the idle set too low.

Since it is hard to start, and since it runs 50, the prop is probably not too big.

So, now hard starting may be due to lack of choke, badly fouled sparkplugs, or idle set too low. Force engines have a type of sparkplug and ignition that will not fire fouled plugs at start or idle speeds but WILL fire at higher RPM. So, if you can start the engine at a higher throttle setting and get it into gear before it stalls, it will run as if it has no problems.

SO First thing to do is to clean or replace all the plugs.

Then, if the problem persists, start synchronizing the carbs and resetting the idle speed.

Buena Suerte. De que pais esta?

I,M LIVE IN JACKSONVILLE FL
THE PROP. IS 13X19
I TRY TODAY SYNC. THE CARB.
BUT WHY THE FORCE IS VERY HARD TO START

Re: Tell me how you hear this force 120

When you mentioned very hard to start, is that only for a cold engine or even with a hot or warm engine? If it's only on cold engine and you already checked the spark plugs, then the next thing to check is to make sure the choke mechanism is working. It is not unusual to see the choke engage after pushing and turning the ignition switch from "off" to "on" position and drop down (the choke disengaging) when you turn on "start" position. Remove the cowl and watch how the choke mechanism works while you turn on the ignition switch. If it is also hard starting with a hot or warm engine check make sure the fuel air mixture screws are set properly at least 1 turn (up to about 1 1/8 turn) from lightly seated and idle speed in neutral is around 1000~1100 RPM or 750~800 RPM in gear.

Re: Tell me how you hear this force 120

yes the choke work right
i not have tach.
20 poles Its too expensive
i order one teny tach may work with force
this boat I just bought
hard to start cold and warm
only start in higher rpm
but die in neultral
and today i broke the prop.
per put the gear in high rpm
and other cuestion is if is normal that flywheel make noise

thank

What year.
Starting: Squeeze ball till firm, move throttle to fast idle position, turn key,and push in to choke.

Re: Tell me how you hear this force 120

You need to verify the settings of the fuel air mixture. Both should be 1 ~ 1/18 out from lightly seated. The sound of the engine sounds like a worn out bearing. You need a stethoscope to localize it. Have you verified the reeds visually?

I don't know but looking at the timing adjustment on the tower shaft, I've never seen a motor with the screw set that far in on the outer threaded block. There seems to be a pretty good size gap between the two threaded blocks. Are you sure you've got the ignition timing set correctly?
