Re: Temp and Oil Warning System

These are some really good guys, there is 3 guy's help me "sschefer" and "j_martin" but mostly "achris", they know their stuff. In my experience they don't act all high and mighty and explain stuff to ya. I need it explained like I'm a 2 year old. They are very good and I'm very grateful that they have taken the time to share their knowledge with me.

I dont know how to make it a sticky

I've checked the part numbers and they don't match up, so I think it unlikely that they are the same...

Re: Temp and Oil Warning System

The magnet that I'm looking for is it on the shaft of the oil pump or at the bottom of the sensor?

Magnet is in the shaft directly under the sensor.

Re: Temp and Oil Warning System

OK here is where I am today. I haven't taken the pump off yet, But this what I have done

white lead from warning module test at 11.64 volts

Blue/ white lead from sensor test at peak 1.6 volts but mostly stayed at 0.05 in the rotation

remote oil tank shows 3 gallons, engine reservoir is full

still beep beep beep, so sensor is bad correct?

Manual basically said not to remove shaft unless its a must or a last resort.

but don't I have to remove it to get to the magnet?

The blue/white wire needs to be connected to the warning module while testing, as well as the white wire. It should peak around 5 volts, and drop to under 1 volt every 2 revolutions.

Sounds like the rotation sensor is bad, but it could be the oil-alert module.

hope it helps

....Blue/ white lead from sensor test at peak 1.6 volts but mostly stayed at 0.05 in the rotation ....

Assuming the white lead and the blue/wht leads were connected to the warning module while you were doing the test, I'd say you have a faulty sensor! (95% probability. The module might be pulling it down, but I only give that a 5%.) If the magnet was the problem, then you wouldn't see any change in the sensor output. You are getting a voltage swing, just not enough.

Re: Temp and Oil Warning System

Ok with them connected Peak is 2.2 to 2.6 volts

The manual says check the voltage coming from coils with DVA.
IF INCORRECT THEN VOLTS TO THE MODULE IS INCORRECT, BUT THEY DON'T GIVE ME THAT NUMBER. WHAT IS CORRECT VOLTAGE?

Looks like the sensor. If #2 fires, the switchbox input is probably OK.

hope it helps

Like John said, looks like the sensor...

Voltage from the coil should be around 400. But you can't measure it with a standard meter.... You need a DVA.... Look HERE for more details....

Re: Temp and Oil Warning System

Thanks Chris I will build one of those this weekend, I'm going to order the sensor tonight. Should I still add oil to the tank until I get the new sensor?

And wow your up early again, I guess as yall say "Good day mate"

Re: Temp and Oil Warning System

The voltage test you did on the sensor would have showed the same results regardless of the coil pulse... Me? I'd be looking for a new sensor... Part number given at the top of the previous page....

Yeah, bad sleeping patterns at the moment...:rolleyes::rolleyes:

We say "Good morning, how are you today?" :D:D

If you want to keep using the boat before you get the sensor, I'd put the oil in the tank.... The chances of a problem are extremely remote, but I like having my ***** covered... and the cost of a bit of oil Vs a new powerhead? You do the numbers. :D

Parts for the DVA adapter shouldn't be any more than about $6... Good luck with it.

Chris...........

EDIT: I really HATE when they do that!!! The **** is the bit between your butt cheeks!!!
