Re: Terry ABF floor repair/rebuild

Update: I got the top wet sanded again and buffed out and had to quickly change focus of my attention to the trailer in order to get things done. The old coupler was difficult to latch and unlatch - it was somehow skewed/bent/ twisted -*I don't know how* but it took a dang hammer to get it to move. I cut it off and welded on a new one, fixed some other bad welds/cracks and, cut off the old rollers/uprights that were the guide- ons as sandblasting would have ruined them anyway. The sandblaster I sent it out to did a great job for me. They blasted And primed the whole trailer top and bottom including wheels ( which they took off and put back on) for only $200.00 - I was tickled *pink* . I took the trailer back to the shop and painted it black with anchor paint and added the poly converter to it . It will be shiny for a very long time.

That is an extrememly nice trailer. Completely overkill for that little fishing boat. I suggest you give it to me for my Starcraft........:)

That is one solid boat there. I like it all white. I think it looks better than when the top was red.

that is tooling board/core board. People call it different things but it is usually used in aircraft construction. What I used is aluminum core(think wavy-thin aluminum on it's edge) glued between wood faced panels. The stuff is super strong and lightweight. It is also super duper expensive but I was lucky enough to have a bunch of it given to me :D. I didn't throw away much when cutting it, only the smallest of scraps. The way I used it is not the strongest position it was designed for but it works. It is really ment to be used flat. I will take some close up pics and post them.

Spence... Great work on the project. I have been looking for help on replacing the transom on the "76 terry that I just bought. You really came through for many of us. I have an 85 Johnson that is turning out real fine so I am anxious to tackle the transom project. Thanks again for all your hard work.

Re: Terry ABF floor repair/rebuild

I'm still here.I wished it were done. sadly, it is not. Oklahoma weather snuck in fast on me and got too dang cold too fast. As it turned out it was about the same time we get real busy at work (Dec is our busiest month) I haven't done much to it lately except buy some cool stuff like a new trolling motor(it is awesome!!!) at Christmas so while I haven't been actually doing anything I still have been acquiring things. The other thing that I had come up is I had to get knee surgery recently(one week ago last friday) and I have been dealing with all *that* as well. Even on the days here it was not real cold outside my knee wasn't up to it . Hopefully that is all past now and before long start to make progress again. ( I want to go fishing) Thanks to all here.:)
