Short and sweet...............The people on here know what they're talkin about. You have a problem, just ask and you'll get an answer. I never heard anyone from either side complain about nothing and I'd like to say thanks for making my life a little easier.

Thanks to all who contribute a wealth of information and experience to this forum. Hopefully those of us with lesser experience can somehow contribute in the future to help out others as well.
My hat's off to all of you!!

Re: Thanks for the help.

I visit several forums and appreciate them all. I frequently see Joe Reeves in other forums and he has helped me by email a couple of times. I'm sure I've also had replies from Dhadley and several others. A very few years ago I had NEVER cracked a case on a two cycle engine. Thanks to all the great forums I have made it a heck of a hobby and pretty much a part time business. I now own some 15 outboards and 3 Mercruisers and some 15 boats, plus 5 PWC's...I guess I got the fever. I've been able to find virtually every part for everything I've worked on including Martin's, Wizards, Gamefisher, Scott-at-Water and Johnsons. The oldest motor I have is about a 1947 and the newest is 1978 other than a 1988 Cabrea 85hp which took me a while just to find out that it is a Suzuki. In the past two weeks alone I've rehabilitated 5 outboards. One came to me in a basket and one was a 1954 Martin 20 which runs like new and looks it too. I'm extremely happy with the results I've gotten and the education I've received from this forum. The help has been invaluable and I now almost never use a manual as a "how to" but just for reference. Almost every weekend I go to the lake and pick up at least $100 working on other people's boats on a Saturday morning. Nice little extra cash just for gas money!!!! I just bought a 20' Ski Boat for $300 which I'll be able to sell for probably $3500-$5000...nice 350 Chevy in it...just waiting for manifolds and material to repair upholstery... I just got a $100 Mercruiser 140 complete boat when I was sweating paying $200 wholesale for a manifold... Yep, learning how to work on them and doing it myself has saved me alot and allowed me to do probably $20,000 worth of work on my own boats in the past 3 months alone.... now it's time to start selling since all my money is invested in "inventory" a.k.a. old, junk boats.

Re: Thanks for the help.

Thanks to several guys that have helped me get my '65 40 horse running right again. It gave off several nutty symptoms that were a bit tricky, but in the end, it turned out to be a coil breaking down at high speed. I will leave a few guys out, but certainly, Goodoleboy, JB, Paul Noir, and CATransplant were instrumental. thanks to the supporting cast of help as well.

Dave

I am a new member on this site and already I have been able to fix all of the small problems with my "new" old boat and outboard. The contributing members of this site have saved me a ton of money. Thanks to all of you, this is a great site.

Thanks to all who have taken the time to assist me here and there throughout my Starcraft restoration and motor projects.

There is more knowledge in this forum that one could ever get out of an entire room full of service manuals!

Rick K

JB: uboats meets 2 needs for me.

1. The help and information I have recieved over time has been brilliant. It has saved me money. It has been sound advice. I value it.

2. Dockside chat has provided me with hours of good entertainment. I read of peoples opinions/situations from a part of the world I have never been too, and I enjoy it.

I wish to raise one point.(again).
Why can't uboats sell to overseas customers?
I am a businessman, and I am happy to do business with uboats....and pay the freight.

It is a great site. Thank the management for me please.

Cheers
Phillip

Re: Thanks for the help.

It's funny that while in search of some boat seats (didn't even have the boat at that time but knew I was getting it) I came across this site and started reading some of the threads. When it came time to crank over the engine and found problems this was the first place I thought of. I didn't think about calling a "shop" to fix the beast... Alot of progress has been made and look foward to alot more. Besides I have learned ALOT about my motor just reading threads I have no associated probs with...Just for future reference. I am grateful theres a site like this with such helpful and knowlegable people willing to help at no charge. Thanks for all your help and someday I'm sure I'll be help to someone myself. (maybe if it is on the lake when thanks to the site my engine is running strong) and that person asks for a tow...I'll know where to point them

THANK YOU everyone who has helped and in advance the help to come
Dave

Re: Thanks for the help.

To add a little angle onto iBoats: I estimate this forum's information enabled me to save > $2000 in the last 24 months.

..Getting your hands dirty in the Outboard business pays handsomely.

If I may humbly mention: If iBoats restricts certain advertisments or promotions, that's a fair trade. You folks help give us chickens a forum to do Outboard DYI, we buy from you and your sponsors. I get it. ..And I find this agreeable.

Ken
Red Bank, The Garden State

Re: Thanks for the help.

I have finally taken my boat to the lake after rebuilding it. I have allready broken it in and its got more power and sounds better than it ever did since I've owned it. If not for the advice from the guys here at i-boats, I'd still be working on it. The archives were also invaluable for ALOT of my questions. Its all there if you look, and you can sure learn alot in the process, best boat site I've found.
Thanks ,
One- and all,
KYHunter
