Re: Thanks for the help.
I visit several forums and appreciate them all. I frequently see Joe Reeves in other forums and he has helped me by email a couple of times. I'm sure I've also had replies from Dhadley and several others. A very few years ago I had NEVER cracked a case on a two cycle engine. Thanks to all the great forums I have made it a heck of a hobby and pretty much a part time business. I now own some 15 outboards and 3 Mercruisers and some 15 boats, plus 5 PWC's...I guess I got the fever. I've been able to find virtually every part for everything I've worked on including Martin's, Wizards, Gamefisher, Scott-at-Water and Johnsons. The oldest motor I have is about a 1947 and the newest is 1978 other than a 1988 Cabrea 85hp which took me a while just to find out that it is a Suzuki. In the past two weeks alone I've rehabilitated 5 outboards. One came to me in a basket and one was a 1954 Martin 20 which runs like new and looks it too. I'm extremely happy with the results I've gotten and the education I've received from this forum. The help has been invaluable and I now almost never use a manual as a "how to" but just for reference. Almost every weekend I go to the lake and pick up at least $100 working on other people's boats on a Saturday morning. Nice little extra cash just for gas money!!!! I just bought a 20' Ski Boat for $300 which I'll be able to sell for probably $3500-$5000...nice 350 Chevy in it...just waiting for manifolds and material to repair upholstery... I just got a $100 Mercruiser 140 complete boat when I was sweating paying $200 wholesale for a manifold... Yep, learning how to work on them and doing it myself has saved me alot and allowed me to do probably $20,000 worth of work on my own boats in the past 3 months alone.... now it's time to start selling since all my money is invested in "inventory" a.k.a. old, junk boats.
