I thought this belonged in stupid human tricks, and technically I did go fishing at one point, so it definately belongs here.

Most of you know my wife, son and I recently got back from a vacation in Orlando, FL. Well when we got back, I was surprised to find that my keychain with my electronic security ID which I NEED for my job was not on the coffee table where I thought I had left it, since I didn't remember seeing it durring the trip, but we didn't unpack everything in the hotel, so I figured it was either packed away good, or had maybe fallen under one of the car seats. Three days later I was freaking out because the keys had not shown up after unpacking all our luggage and having throughly searched the car and house. Well by this time my wife had already gone back to work, and she came home and said that the car was acting a little funny (engine getting warmer than normal). So I pop the hood to add more coolant because the coolant was low, and guess what's sitting there right on top of the grill? The keys I had been searching for. They had sat there where I must have left them when I topped off the washer resivoir before we left. 1400+ miles, nothing at all holding them in place, one wrong bump in the road and they would have never been seen again... yet there they were. The best part is, despite the engine heat, and the rain we drove through, both the electronic security ID and even the thumb drive that was also on the keychain are both in perfect condition. Talk about lucky, that was one incredible trip they took.

Yep, I think I'll go invest in some life insurance now. Clearly I have used up all my luck for this year.

You have NO idea... the keys and the thumb drive I could stand to lose, the electronic security ID I can't.

Happy for you.:)

Last summer our neighbor at the cottage invited a friend of his for a weekend boat trip (on Michigan's Inland Waterway). Bob's got a 23' cuddy that he trailers from the cottage 175 miles to the ramp.

When they got to the ramp (remember 175 miles later, over 2-lane highways), they found his friend's $300 binoculars just sitting on the swim plaform at the back of the boat. No one can figure out why they didn't jsut bounce off on the way.

That binoculars story is amazing. I left my gas cap on the swim platform, it rode there for 40 miles at 60-65mph. I was amazed at that because of how light the cap is.

Re: The amazing ride

My dad and I rented 4 wheelers at Padre Island one year during our family vacation and rode for 3 hours up and down an endless expanse of beach & sand dunes. Towards the end my dad frantically waved me down when he realized his wallet was missing out of his back pocket. I don't know how many square miles the park consisted of, but it was huge. We split up to conduct a search and as I was heading back empty handed to meet at the rental office, I saw a black wallet laying right in the middle of the beach near the incoming waves.

I'll never forget his look of beaming happiness as I held up his wallet while driving towards where he was standing. It was priceless!

Amazing stories, indeed. Reminds me when I left my work keys on the step bumper of my truck. As I was driving home, all these cars were honking at me as they passed by, pointing towards the rear of the truck. Since I didn't see anything in my mirrors I just kept driving. Finally, at a stop light this lady gets out of her car behind me, grabs the keys and hands them to me. Boy, was I embarrassed. Those keys are my life and she doesn't know just how much I appreciated her kind gesture. Its amazing how they stayed on the bumper after making several turns and taking off after stopping. It's like someone was there making sure they don't get lost...Spooky. But, yours take the cake Sgt. Maj.
