Re: The boat runs great now that summers over.
Glad to hear she's up and running! What wound up being the problem?
I'm guessing you haven't followed the posts, so here is an update. First when i purchased the boat it had a cracked block, which the owner payed for completly out of his pocket, so i had a new 350 mag long block put back in. Along with that i had them do a new engine coupler, water pump, power steering cooler, distrubuter cap, rotor, plugs and wires. After i got it back after the repower, i used it for aprox. 6 hours, and the next time i went out i checked fluids and no power steering fluid. Checked it out and they cross threaded the pressure fitting to the actual power piston. They had to replace that part, which cost almost 800, plus the labor of pulling the motor back in and out. When i got it back it didn't run again like it previously did. Did a pressure test on the fuel system, was only reading 18psi, should be 28 to 30. Replace the fuel pressure regulator, which is at the bottom port side of the motor, had to pull manifolds to get to it. In this process they found water in the manifolds and cylinders, did a pressure test of the manifolds and found i need new ones, so replaced the regulator, manifolds and had them do started while they were down there. Still didn't run right. Did a leak down test, and compression test, all fine. Checked plugs again. three where white, no fuel. Three of the injectors were clogged, replaced all 8 injectors, and now the thing runs great. I think that covers pretty much anything that is in the boat, completly new motor, steering system, fuel delivery, exhaust manifolds, starter, engine coupler. I should be good for a while i would think. The toal amout of money that went into the boat this summer was just over $9500, in which i paid just under $2500 of that, and purchased for $11,500. Not bad, so 14,000 for a brand new boat, because the actual boat is in absolut mint condition being not a scratch or tear to be found. I know that i'll have to do some outdrive work within the next few years, but that i can handle.
