Re: The day has come...

You should have sued the pants off them.My attorney said they would have to offer me another position and if not they would have to train me for something i can do.Also they can not reduce my pay.He said they will probably offer me something that they know i will turn down.
I really like working for them and thought they cared about their employees until this happened. They donate millions every year for charity so you would think they would take care of their own.It does not work that way though.
Its a darn shame i even had to get an attorney just to see the doctor.
All i can do now is play the game and see what happens.
This is a very well known company,i know they would not like bad press.

Good luck Mrfixit. I know the Comp doc they sent me to was a quack. He told me i did not need surgery and my body would eventually adjust to the pain....what bull. I got a second opinion and that doc looked at my MRI and said surgery was the only option. The second doc was a spine specialist and also does brain surgery. He knew his stuff.
I could tell the first doc was all for workers Comp.anything to save them money.Comp gave me a hard time over the second opinion too.My back,my choice!
Don't let them push you around because they sure will any chance they get.
Best of luck with your knee surgery, keep us posted!

Don't know how it works there, but around here you get to pick your own surgeon. I've had the same guy do my shoulder, both wrists, one knee, and when the time comes when the brace don't work any more, he'll be doing the other knee. Did have to have the comp doc agree that surgery was necessary, but no way I'd let THAT quack cut me. And they can't make me. Talk to your comp lawyer.

It was a fight for me when i told them i'm getting a second opinion.they wanted to send me to another one of their Comp doctors.I said no way and finally got them to let me pick who would do surgery.I guess it all depends on the states Comp laws and what insurance company they are.
You know its a shame when you get hurt on the job then have to fight them over it.Kind of made me bitter about the whole deal.I think now the company is worried i'll want a settlement.

Re: The day has come...

I'm in my late 20's, endured a car accident in 1996. I totaled a car I just paid $3500 for a couple months before. Never had a broken bone in my life until the accident, then it crushed might right ankle gave me a compound fracture. I spent a week in ICU, all I can recall is the buzzers going off from people dieing around me, I spent I can't remember how long in the hospital. I had surgery done on my spleen because it got lacerated from the seat belt. I have had several surgeries on this ankle and if I hadn't of changed doctors I would not of had the ankle because the first doctor told my parents "bring him back in a month and we'll take the leg off". My mother nearly passed out. I have had bone graphs done, they took bone out of my hip and put it in my ankle to fill in the space were the other bones were crushed. I went for months with a hard cast on and a window cut into it so I could have the wound cleaned were the bone still was exposed. I have a fused ankle after all of that and the way I walk does throw my body out of alignment, witch causes me to experience pains in my back and hips and other places. I was also told by the doctor that it is possible that I might half to have a hip replacement in the future because the joints will most likely ware out from the way I walk. I had hammer toe correction last year on the same bad leg, the hammer toe was brought on by the skin on my foot and the tendons tightening from swelling and all that good stuff. I am awaiting the doctors records from 96-98 to see about possibly getting some kind of disability. I can't walk bare footed out side, nearly can't walk bare footed inside. I haven't wore a pare of sneakers since before the accident, got to have boots (preferably steel toe) to help support and protect the foot. I have endured infections also in my fused ankle side on my foot, one before the ankle was fused I had to was around with a groshont in my chest and IV pump and another just this year. I had an on the job injury that brought on tendonitis in my left wrist. Hope all goes well with your recovery. My father has been dealing with his back problem since the early 90's.

Yep, I went to a world renown ankle and wrist doctor who still is in practice but at a better hospital. What gets me my own mother keeps give me the run around about going for disability, one moment she says go for disability the next moment no don't do it . Knowing I shouldn't be doing any heavy lifting, standing for long periods, or extensive walking on a job, then my wrist flairs up when doing repetitive work. Of course I have arthritis to, the doctor said once the bone got exposed to the air that arthritis would set in. Heck I get uncomfortable sitting down. My foot always gets dry skin, I half to take care of that on a daily bases most of the times sometimes I skip a day.
