as for me I personally dont trust the hospitals/docs all that much...but what choice do ya have.

Thanks again for all your thoughts and prayers, they operated this afternoon for over 2 hrs, 1st they did a Laparoscopic surgery to investigate, they found that yes her appendix was bad and she had a umbilical hernia. They took the appendix out and repaired the hernia. When I left there tonight see was in good spirits and said she already felt 100% better that the only pain she was feeling was that from the surgery

I know, I actually was pretty angry when I wrote the 1st post and had to edit it a few times cause I went on a tare about the doctors. She is feeling better this morning says she is sore but that's about it. I can tell she is because I woke up to text messages on my cell phone she sent at 4am this morning that's always a good sign lol
They say the strangulated hernia probably came about from lifting gurneys, she's a EMT for the fire dept.

That must be a tremendous relief, HVAC. I have had to lay low for a while as I adjust to working at home full-time productively. It was gratifying to check in here and see this.

It's heavier than my .44mag and actually much easier to shoot. I also have 3 45-70 rifles and they're all rougher on me than the handgun, even with same ammo.



Yep, the inability to afford something like this in my younger years. I admit, I do have a penchant for BIG. I have 4 of these speakers in my basement.

Thanks Rick, Yes we All are in much better spirits, feels like a huge weight is off our shoulders its really terrible to see your child in pain and there's nothing you can do to stop it.

Thanks axeslinger I know what you mean, working at home can take its toll on productivity takes awhile to adjust. I know when I'm home I can't get anything done after 3:30 because of my rug rats lol, sometimes its a family adjustment too

Hey Man, Yep they discharged her tonight I'm going to get Bambie's dad this weekend, afterwords I'm going to surprise her and drop across state lines to visit her.

On another note, Hunting season starts here on Saturday while sitting here sharpening my knives I thought of another post with regard to Chinese knives.
Here is a pic of my prized possession, my dad made this knife in 1943 during WWII. The blade is from a broken bayonet the handle he made from the windshield of a plane. I have been hunting with this knife for 35 years every time I hold it it gives me a sense of pride and history. The steel is such high quality that I can sharpen it to a razors edge. If you notice the contour of the handle, he formed it to fit his hand, from which I have found mine is a match to.

My dad is now 84 years young, these days on nights like tonight where I'm getting ready for hunting and go over to borrow his sharpening stones, although I really don't need to for I have my own. Dad tells me stories of his knife that he has passed down to me, that someday when my son Liam is old enough I will pass to him Along with his gran dads stories, cleaned up of course

I know I'm very lucky, my dads 84 and my moms 79, he is actually the reason I moved back here. We almost lost him in 98, out of 7 kids I was one of the 1st to the hospital and I lived 200 mi away .
Now a days he tells me the same stories over and over like its the 1st time he is telling me, I enjoy the stories but I enjoy more the expression on his face while he's telling them .

What A Great Post. I love all the stuff about 45-70's.

My dad lives way up on the mountain. He keeps his freezer full with his old Springfield 45-70 breech loader. I have never seen anybody work a hammer and trap door as fast as he can.
I decade ago, I bought him a Marlin .35 lever, to try to make his life easier. He doesn't use it. He still runs ridges with his "crowbar".

Brother rabbit doesn't stand a chance if he has his Stevens side by side on him.

Well there's always next weekend Went to my favorite tree stand that was always a sure bet, well seeing I had the property logged this summer it completely changed the landscape and feeding grounds. not one deer passed my stand. Sunday I did some walking and found where they have all gone to, up on the next ridge with so many tree tops on the ground no way to get a clear shot, so I set up another tree stand I had kicking around 15' up in preparation for next weekend.

Hi aspeck, yea this year I'm not going for the size of the rack I did that last year and shot my 8 pointer. My wife still wont let me bring it upstairs st put it up on the wall I can only shoot a buck during rifle season, but come muzzle loading I can get either so sure to come home with at least 1 this year, I love my chicken fried Bambie lol

hey Vegas, the windshields were actually really thick Plexiglas, it wasn't to cold this weekend about 40 deg, next weekend there's supposed to be some snow, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we get at least 6".

Nice knife BWR, there is nothing like a comfortable fit, makes all the difference in the world. I know with mine it feels like an extension of my hand. Looking at the sheaths reminded me I have to make a new one for my dads. The knife lasted but the old leather didn't, I plan on tanning some deer hide and sinew to make a new one. BTW I took some photos of the air raid siren, and the old helmet I will get them up later.
I even took a picture of the old 1940's (I think) tricycle we have up there, took that one for Vert lol.

Hey KHR, that must be one heck of a weapon, Is it an original 1873 Trapdoor, that gun has one heck of a history. I love my 45-70 marlin lots of knockdown power, although my shoulder usually suffers from extended use. I don't even want to imagine shooting one with a steel butt plate instead of a recoil pad, OUCH!!!
You probably should have gotten him it in 45-70 or 444 instead seeing he likes that shoulder breaking recoil lol
