Man, that is too cold for me, HVAC, so I'm gonna HIJACK! :D

Got this little dude yesterday and have been flyin' it around the living room. My old R/C aircraft instincts are still there, but whenever I try to give it "up elevator" the danged thing starts flying backwards! Heh heh. Tricky stuff!

Hijack

I didn't mind the cold one bit, just something about clean cold brisk air in Gods country. It was a semi successful trip shot a doe, about 160lbs or better least that's what it felt like having to drag it 1/2 mile out of the woods.

Cool, meat in the freezer. By the looks of things, the gun worked out well.:D

Re: The Hijack Zone - Zombies Welcome

Hey BWR that looks real cool, I have bought a few micro helicopters for my son, he always has a blast with them, (so does dad lol ;) ). Does that one seem more stable with the dual rotors?

Yep WIMUSKY the BP gun worked out real well, stayed with the open sights. That was a 1 shot deal well over 100yd & downward at about 50' lower elevation. I love the Williams fiber optic sights on her, they glow like crazy even in low light conditions. I'm thinking of swapping out the peeps I have on my 45-70 for a set of them.

The only bad thing that happened is I lost my GPS in the snow while gutting and couldn't find it. Went back to the spot with a rake and cleared the area with no luck :( . I'm hoping its waterproof enough and that I can find it when the snow melts.

Well there is about 18-20" of snow here on long island so its time for me to get outside and start snow blowing. The kids are going to love it when they wake up, I see lots of snowmen in their future today :)

Yep, it's pretty stable. At least after I got the trim set up correctly. However, it doesn't fly like a real chopper, nor does it fly like an airplane. Controlling it is much more like controlling a bulldozer or skidsteer. Rotate one direction, then go either forward or reverse. I'm still adjusting to the "up elevator" equating to flying backwards thing though. LOL

Guess where I went yesterday? No snow around here! Heh heh. :D

Yup. Loaded up with the new Hornady LeveRevolution ammo. Good stuff.

Those are good guns. My brother has one that he's trying to hand down to his daughter. The lever action is smooth and tight.

I just got mine in the last month or so and couldn't be happier. I WILL say that the LeveRevolution ammo is simply amazing. I sighted in the rifle with 150gr. Winchester and after getting it on the money at 100 yards, I switched to the LeveRevolution 160gr. and had to DROP the point of impact nearly a FOOT. Way cool! Well, except that I burned all that extra ammo redoing the sight-in. Should have just started with it in the first place. :D

Well I was wrong about the snow, just got in from clearing it was 25" where my wife measured it on our front lawn. Funny as hell she tells me times like this she is happy she married a redneck with the guns, 4x4's with 32" mud tires:D, I cleared snow all day and still did a grocery run for her Gotta love it Man did I have fun today :D
Plows never came around, all of a sudden neighbors who never give us the time of day wanna be our best friends lol man that's funny, but guess you had to be there to appreciate it.

Hey mikastorm- Nice camp, REALLY COOL BEAR, you get that there in PA?
I was tracking a bear on my property for the past week but the woods was to noisy to get close enough for a shot :( .

Hey BWR - I know what you mean bout them handing like a bulldozer, at least know I know its not just me

Hey WIMUSKY - I agree with BWR on the lever revolution ammo, thats all I use in my Marlin 45-70 you don't loose as much trajectory on the longer shots as with standard ammo.
Pass on to your brother that Hornady has a real good ballistics calculator on their web site for comparing

Re: The Hijack Zone - Zombies Welcome

Here's one I hope you guys enjoy-

A couple years ago, my brother and I took one of our young cousins up to dad's mountain for an extended hunting trip. This particular kid is one of those that are way beyond their years, and they already seem to know everything, you know one of those guys?

Well, he FINALLY pops a doe down by the old orchards. I was nearby and had watched the several deer move past me, and head right towards him. My dad and brother were a couple ridges up from us.

I start talking him through field dressing. (He already knew everything about it, just never did it. he he he)

Dad and brother show up about the time cousin "rings the bung". Cousin takes out a short piece of string. My dad bellows out "what the heck are you doin' "

Cousin says he wants to tie it off so nothing falls out, inside. My dad with the staightest face I have ever seen on him says " No, do it like this"

He squats down and pretends to take the ringed bung, and pretends to blow it like a balloon. He says, still with flint steel composure " The string won't work. You can't tie it tight enough, and it will come off and you will spill raisins through out and wreck the meat. You have to blow them back up far enough so they don't come out."

The multitudes of emotions and looks that rolled across cousin's face was classic. Shock, scared, queasy etc.

I was only able to keep from bursting out laughing until cousin ,still staring at the task at hand said "Really?"

I still giggle at it. I guess you had to be there.

Well, all I can say is DON'T try flying it outdoors. The one I have is I/R controlled, not actually R/C and when I took it outside, the signal was lost PRONTO and then CRUNCH!

Couldn't even chase the squirrels around with it! :D

Glad to say that the little helo is very rugged though. Heh heh.

Re: The Hijack Zone - Zombies Welcome

You like that do ya?

On that same trip my brother brought one of those electronic, remote fart machines.

Dad's favorite spot in the whole world is a long abandoned quarry, just below the top ridge of dad's mountain. My brave brother secreted it in a ziplock, and in a wierd little spot up in a nearby tree that my dad would never find.

My brother made sure that he was settled in with my dad between him and the tree, to divert any suspicion. They were probly about 10 yards away from each other, but the lay of that land gave them both different fields of vision. Its kinda like a switch back ridge.

Every once in a while he would "rip one" from the hidden remote in his pocket, and play stupid, "what the he!! was that?!"

Man my dad had no idea what was goin on. I to this day have no idea how my brother kept from laughing. He only could have pulled it off because I wasn't there with them. That would have given me the giggles to no end.
