Re: The Hijack Zone - Zombies Welcome

Hey Kev, Hope you and the family had a happy new year, Hx, Px think Im gonna post a Billy Bob nomenclature Thread LOL :D:eek: Man that would just mess everyone up lol

Here is a pic of the drive, I have to really take a look at it when I get her home. It looks like well the only way I know how to describe it is intergrandular corrosion ( aircraft days, here I go again lol ) seeing it was a fresh water boat, I have no other reason for the housing degrading.
The port side of the drive is where I really saw damage looks like it corroded right through it. I turned the prop by hand and I really didn't feel any backlash hinting the the gears were fine.

I believe its an Alpha gen I , here on iboats I can get an aftermarket for $1300 or a alpha rebuilt for $2300 to buy just a lower case its $950 which makes absolutely no sense to me, 400 more for a complete upper and lower??
Any thoughts????????

Hey Hvac...

Right back @ ya..heres to 2010!
Sorry I havent visited this thread (or that many others lately)
That is one FUGLY drive...almost as ugly as whats bolted behind my tub at the moment!
Hands down go with the SEI drive with a warranty! I have heard nothing but good things about em and you can go to the Merc/Volvo/I/O forum and search "SEI" there are lots of happy endings..(No VPM, NOT that kind)
If I had the coin I'd go that route without any hesitation what-so-ever!

HIJACK!

Went hunting for a few hours this afternoon. NICE day even though it's been colder than normal around here. Low this morning was 20 degrees and it was right around 50 while I was hunting.

Here were my views, at my eye level:

Hijack. So I wanted to post up pics of a new girl in my life.

Glock 17 RTF. Came with 4 mags. First thing I will most likely do is polish the barrel, get extended slide release, and extended mag release. I also could probably use a safe.

Hi Kev, Yep I'm going to go with the SEI drive, I did some research on them on the Merc forum here and everyone loves them. They are on sale right now for $1195 right now, you can't beat that price with a stick.

Hey BWR, nice hunting spot, did you see any? I did that repair never did get to his boat it was almost dark by the time we got finished. He did invite me to go tuna fishing this summer :D .
While working on the system out there I saw more deer than I did all hunting season, it was unreal. One yearling almost walked right up to us on the lawn.

Hey Thril- Like your new girl, bet you can't wait to get her hot lol.

Didn't see any, but am going out again after I finish breakfast. Supposed to be a huge weather change this afternoon and I'm hoping that'll move 'em around some.

I just about shot cereal outta my nose when I read that "hot" Glock comment! :D

:D I thought about that one after I posted it, hoping it wasn't to off color

Well good luck hunting, looking at the pics looks like you could use a tree stand for a little better vantage point

Very nice. That's the latest generation Gen 4. Isn't the slide release on thoe new ones ambidextrous? And... what's the deal with the "new" backstrap?

Good luck with it.

this is the RTF, or rough textured frame, the grip feels like sand paper, the slide release is still only on the left hand side of the gun (right thumb). The milling on the slide really does have better grip than the straight milling.

Well, I did go out for a couple hours this morning/afternoon. Per the ranger that happened by..."nothing happening anywhere in here today." Guess the weather just had the animals all bedding down and staying put. After the wind shifted, temps dropped and it started raining. That was 2 1/4 hours after I set up at "my" spot. Didn't feel like sitting there freezin' my butt off and getting wet with nothing going by.

I've pretty much lost confidence in my preferred location. No new sign there for several days and it's within 150 yards of a road. Methinks the critters just don't like being that close, in spite of the sign that I'd seen previously. Either that, or they've gone nocturnal in their habits or have already been harvested.

Haven't had a chance to check other locations in detail. I bought this 2-man tree stand prior to the holidays, but never had a chance to get it set up. It's still sitting in the box in my living room. Plus, I'd not had enough time to do any serious scouting. Found lots of fresh sign at "my" location when I first found it and a little more fresh sign after a couple of visits there. But, nothing in the last few days for sure.

I did talk with a custodian when I signed in this morning. He said there were about 30 guys total in the Wildlife Management Area (WMA) when I arrived, which yields about 1,300 acres per person. However, they obviously weren't spread evenly throughout the WMA. He further said that typical weekday usage was about 70 hunters by end of day, with weekends pushing 150-200 in the woods total for the day.

Dunno if I'll be able to make it back out by season's end on Sunday.

Re: The Hijack Zone - Zombies Welcome

HIJACK!

Well, deer season ended here yesterday. I went up this morning to the Chassahowitzka Wildlife Management Area, a 39,000+ acre WMA to see what the total take was, but the "scoreboard" had already been taken down. The last time I saw it, on 8 Jan 2010, the TOTAL number of deer taken was 67, which broke down to 8 does and 59 bucks. There had only been 11 hogs taken during the whole time.

Those numbers were for all three seasons combined... archery, black powder and finally general gun season, for a total of 102 days hunting. That's only 1 deer every day and a half. Weekdays saw about 70 hunters in the WMA and weekends pushed 150-200 in there by the end of the day.

Pretty slim pickings actually.

Re: The Hijack Zone - Zombies Welcome

Hey BWR Wow I guess I'm not the only one that had a bad hunting season those are really poor #'s. I have been hearing that all over though. Not many I know got anything this year.

On another note:
HIJACK
I did the dumbest thing possible today, and yes it cost me. So dum I almost started a new thread here just to pick on myself!

Ok, picture this, 2 customers both named Bob, both have Ht Prod. Munchkin boilers, both have same problem in the past. Being a service rep for the Manufacturer they get the initial calls send me the parts I go and play B mechanic and swap the parts. Bob #1's boiler I worked on before Christmas, Bob #2's boiler I worked on just last week.
So I get a call friday, I answer, ITS BOB he tells me the boiler started acting up again, I think to myself ok, it a gas valve problem, no biggie go there with my combustion analyzer, and manometer, adjust her up Its all good.
Got there today, his wife answered the door says Bob didn't tell me you were coming today, no big deal you know where it is. I go set up, start working on recalibrating and checking the entire boiler, Igniter, rectification probe fan RPM's etc.
Spent 3 hrs re-configuring the system and going through the motions. Then I get a call...
I Was Servicing The Wrong Customers Boiler Grrrrrrrr!!! WRONG BOB

I am such a JERK some times
