Re: The Old Holiday

wrfalpacas,
thanks... I think it came out nicely. I am going to do the same type of thing with the deck around the seats. I'll leave about a two inch gap I think around each base. No sense using non skid there as I won't be standing there...
The paint isn't cheap and according to the info on the can, I should have just enough to cover 60 square ft with two good coats. I'll let you know how I make out.

JimbC,
Thanks for the kind words. I felt I had to do something with it as I got tired of just seeing it sit there and one thing led to another...

Rick,
That's pretty much what the directions had said if I recall. Thanks for the tip. Tomorrow's supposed to be nicer here and I'm going to try and get some pics up to date...

Re: The Old Holiday

Good deal I have 2 days before the rain is supposed to be back here so I need to at least get 2 more coats of red on mine ( if I follow the directions on the danged can and wait the 24 hours between coats .)

...sorry everyone, I'm unable to work on the old gal today, another twenty four hours at work. When overtime comes I have to take it to pay for all of this! Tomorrow's another day...

Re: The Old Holiday

...okay where was I?
I was able to mask off the inside of the gunwales and get them painted. Oddly enough the Rustoleum gloss white smelled exactly like the Interlux off white...coincidence? Anyway they came out well and that allowed me to get the gauges into the dash and get to the wiring.

...I think they look pretty good. I thinned out the paint a bit and it was just this side of "runny" if that makes sense. I again used the four inch foam roller...

As far as the dash goes, originally I had been toying with the idea of covering it in vinyl as was the original but after seeing Northbeach's I went with the wood and I am very happy I did.

... next I masked off the areas where the new folding bench seats will go. I hope to get some paint on the deck soon.

...since I had gotten so far I had to see it with the windshield on it so there it is...

...and again...

...the air horns are hooked up and working as well. They are a combination of of both the original and some newly aquired parts for the Sparton horns that originally came with the boat ( at least when my dad got it) . I don't know how I lucked out with them so easily.

Well that's about it for today. I have a little more to do with the wiring. I have to see if the tach actually works as well as the trim gauge. Hopefully I'll get out of work in the morning and have a couple of days to work on the boat. Thanks for watching...
Be careful,

Love what you're doing with the old Holiday:) I've been eyeballing a 1974 15' holiday for a few months and you are inspiring me to get that one too!

Great work and good luck finishing her off.:D

Thanks for the compliments. I'm not sure about giving anyone a run for their money as everyone has a sweet project going on here.
The windshield, although several years old came from Taylor made ( more on that later) and really has very few hours on it. It spent most of it's life upstairs in the garage.

Re: The Old Holiday

Thanks Rick,
Those switches from left to right are:
Bilge Pump
Spot light(s)
Lights
Spare (right now)
Fan/blower
They are all two position, push/pull, off/on, except for the middle one and that's a three position similar to a headlight switch

North Beach
Thanks very much. Yeah the dash was covered in white vinyl that had embosssed stripes about every inch going vertically. As I said I had been toying with the idea of just going to an upholstery shop and getting some material and do it myself. It would have been a matter of cutting out a piece and then stapling it. I saw the excellent job you were doing and that made my mind up for me, so I should again be thanking you!
