Re: the problem came backkkkkkk

you should have gotten a no oil signal, and that will only depend on if the motor was set up with the correct parts, the 2000 used system check which requires the correct tach or check guage or a driver with a horn.

if it does not oil at 3500 its wont oil at 25 or 45 either.
however like the rest run a premix until oil consumption is verified, most the issues like the one you describe are pack related and at a high speed shut down you will hear the shift clutch ratchet as the prop tries to spin backwards due to water pressure and the drive shaft quit moving.
makes a heck of a racket for a second or so until hull speed lowers.
look carefully at the wire loom under the stbd side aft edge of the head/block, they have a tendancy to chafe the trigger wires. also if you have the modular connector at the control box look carefully for signs of arcing from the black/white terminal to the yellow/red one.
any tracks indicate its arcing.
if its arcing, wire the blk/wht around the connector. some of the early harness's may have blk/yellow instead of blk/wht and one or two change colors :) .

thanks rod, you hit it right on the nail, a perfect description of what happened to me. The motor has all the original equipment. I will check the wireing. thanks again.

Re: the problem came backkkkkkk

sorry rod, but there seems to be no problem with the wireing and no chafes anywere, its all dry and clean just like i like to keep it.

Only thing i noticed is that the black box were the orange trigger wires come out to the plugs do not seem to be completly burried in silicon, as if sombody worked them around.

Now I can say that the problem is exactly this.

The engine will be ok and normal up till 3500 rpm.
As soon as 4000 rpm is reached, the engine increases its speed for a minuit or two and suddenly shuts down. As it is shutting down the clutch in the gearbox starts ratcheting and if i reduce speed at once, the engine keep on going, if i dont it shuts down completly.
Then i shift to nutral to restart and it starts with no problem whatsoever.

Any ideas please?

While you are running the premix for insurance, you should keep marking the oil tank so that you can see if it is drawing oil and how much.

Sounds like the oil is back -? If so, it's time to pull the cylinder head and see if everything is OK. Get a head gasket first. Some do, but I don't use a sealer, but I do buy OMC/BRP gaskets.

Reason is that with everything that's happened, you could easily have a leaking head gasket from the expansion and contraction caused by heat. I think you may still be overheating but can't tell why yet.

yes ill give it another go with premix and see if it does it again. The oil tank came back to shape since i relived the pressure. There was certainly somthing wrong there.

update on my problem....

well the motor worked fine with premix as if nothing had happened.

Rodbolt, i turned off the key at high speed and the boat just kept the motor running in gear till is slowed down. No wretcheting sound what so ever.

I think the the problem points further to the oil tank breather being blocked.

Does a no oil alarm sound on no oil or no oil flow?

After use the engine now leaks oil from exhaust as normal.

Chris, if you want to keep running on pre-mix it is a proven safe system. Costs nothing, since your VRO pump can handle it. You can toss everything but the pump and just put up with mixing the fuel and oil.

[Edit] Don't let the die-hards kid you, BRP is not using VRO any more either.

Chris...if you had instances of running with no oil being delivered to the gas, you might want to just run a compression test as Dhadley suggested some posts' ago. And I would also be checking the warning horn out to. It would seem to me you should have gotten some kind of an alarm during those cut outs.
