you should have gotten a no oil signal, and that will only depend on if the motor was set up with the correct parts, the 2000 used system check which requires the correct tach or check guage or a driver with a horn.<br /><br /> if it does not oil at 3500 its wont oil at 25 or 45 either.<br /> however like the rest run a premix until oil consumption is verified, most the issues like the one you describe are pack related and at a high speed shut down you will hear the shift clutch ratchet as the prop tries to spin backwards due to water pressure and the drive shaft quit moving.<br /> makes a heck of a racket for a second or so until hull speed lowers.<br />look carefully at the wire loom under the stbd side aft edge of the head/block, they have a tendancy to chafe the trigger wires. also if you have the modular connector at the control box look carefully for signs of arcing from the black/white terminal to the yellow/red one.<br /> any tracks indicate its arcing.<br />if its arcing, wire the blk/wht around the connector. some of the early harness's may have blk/yellow instead of blk/wht and one or two change colors
